A crash on Motorway M6 (Bang Pa-In – Nakhon Ratchasima) has left two people dead and three others injured after a pickup truck driver, lost control and crashed into two roadside lamp posts before veering into the central reservation.

The crash occurred at approximately 06:10 on 15 March, at kilometre marker 145+747, in Si Khieu District, Nakhon Ratchasima, on the Bangkok-bound carriageway. Local police and emergency responders from Hook 31 Rescue Unit rushed to the scene following reports of a serious collision.

Upon arrival, authorities found a Toyota Revo pickup truck, registered in Bangkok, severely damaged. The front of the vehicle was destroyed, and personal belongings were strewn across the road. Two lamp posts had been knocked down due to the impact.

Rescue workers used hydraulic cutting equipment to extricate the five victims trapped inside the vehicle. The victims included:

• Three men

• One woman

• One young boy

They were immediately transported to Si Khieu Hospital for urgent treatment. However, two of the male passengers succumbed to their injuries en route to the hospital. Their identities have not yet been confirmed.

Initial investigations suggest that the group, who were relatives, were travelling towards central Thailand when the crash occurred. The road conditions were clear, and police suspect the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel.

The vehicle is believed to have first struck a lamp post, before losing control and hitting another post 30 metres away. The crash remains under investigation as authorities work to confirm the exact cause of the crash.

A case of cynicism to cover ignorance...

THe M6 is still under construction - it has a dipped meridian which is far more likely to result in fatalities. THey open these roads to traffic for too soon.
