Having posted the above post i have to say that there is a charging curve and if i charge at a 120 kWh charger i can get around 115 kWh but that will drop off to around 79 kWh and then around 44 kWh as the battery gets closer to 100%.

 

So if you are constantly topping up your battery at 75 % SOC then you are unlikely to get more than 80 kWh or if you have to share a 120 kWh charger then will probably get around 57 kWh.

 

So, yes, 115 kWh is available but not all the time.

My Seal is supposed to achieve 150 kWh charging but i haven’t had the opportunity to test ( a Shell pump with a 180 kWh charger would provide ).

 

Some of the 20% to 80% figures can be misleading but not impossible, its all marketing.

In a similar vein the quoted range figures can be achieved but you wouldn’t want to drive that way, as ICE would often quote MPG figures, difficult but not impossible.

Yes they are not free all the time although BYD was free last year. I pay ฿8 at BYD compared to ฿7.5 at EleXA, but at BYD I have access to the customer lounge with aircon drinks and stacks. Both can charge at over 100kW.

 

I had an MG for 4 years but now have a BYD Seal AWD and a BYD M6. I charge them both from solar, my house is off-grid. 

 

On long trips like a 900km round trip to BKK a 20m charge at a  BYD dealer each way is sufficient and hassle free as I can monitor which chargers are free on the app

Like most everyone else in this thread, all I see in Bangkok are loads of BYD, MG and some Neta, very few Tesla models.

 

Every time I've driven past my local BYD showroom, there are always people inside looking at the cars.

 

I see Mitsubishi, Ford, Toyota, Honda dealers all over the place, but I can't recall ever seeing a Tesla dealer. I find it hard to believe Tesla could have a 39% market share in Thailand.

You are correct, but Tesla Super Chargers are baked into Tesla navigation, whereby it automatically selects chargers for you on a journey and preconditions the battery as you get close to the charger.

 

Tesla Super Chargers support plug and charge, so no apps or payments required as the charger recognizes the car and it's registered payment system. 

 

Tesla Super Chargers are very reliable and the car will know if a charger is busy or broken.

Glad to have liquidated all my TSLA shares 😄   would be a dumb if I had done the same for BYD, once I saw their crazy expansion plans.

 

Last year I used to see a lot of Teslas around where I live and near the kids schools, however after BYD Seal and Sealion 6/7 came, and the other brands, it was game over for Tesla here. hardly see any new Tesla, if any.

 

BYD and the other Chinese brands is changing the EV market completely. Look at all the other car makers reducing their prices like crazy just to stay afloat:  Mitsubishi, Toyota, MG, GWM, Ford, suzuki, Hyundai, Kia.

Who can compete with the BYD M6 now at that crazy price?

Just watch and see a bloodshed coming soon for car makers.

 

Who in hell would buy the Suzuki Ertiga or Swift? The Dolphin is even cheaper!
