A mother was left devastated after discovering her son had taken his own life in their rented room in Bang Lamung, Chonburi, early morning on 20 March.

Emergency services from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Unit were alerted to the incident at 05:00. They arrived at the unnamed row house accommodation, where they found the body of 34-year-old Mr. Ekaphop in Room 11. The deceased, wearing a grey t-shirt and denim shorts, had died by hanging. His body had been taken down before authorities arrived.

According to his mother, Mrs. Chomsri, 53, her son had been struggling emotionally following the breakdown of his marriage. Despite his repeated attempts to reconcile with his former wife, she refused to return to him.

Speaking to police, Mrs. Chomsri recalled a chilling remark her son had made in the past: “If one of us had to die, I would rather it be me than you, Mum.” However, she never imagined he would act on such thoughts, especially as he had a young child to care for.

The grieving mother explained that she had gone to bed at around 23:00 the previous night and woke up at 04:30 to prepare for work. Noticing her son’s bicycle was missing, she glanced over at his sleeping area and saw his legs hanging down. Turning on the light, she was horrified to find him lifeless.

Shocked and distraught, she immediately contacted the authorities. However, by the time emergency responders arrived, it was too late.

Police have recorded details of the incident and documented the scene. The body has been transferred to Pattaya Patthamakorn Hospital, where it will remain until family members arrange a funeral.
