Lewis Green, a 22-year-old traveller from Staffordshire, endured a harrowing ordeal after being incarcerated and mistreated in a Thai jail. Set against the backdrop of a two-month solo adventure in Thailand, Green's nightmare began on 24th January in Hua Hin, merely a day before he was due to return home.

Green's horrifying account unveils a narrative of being drugged, beaten, and starved while shackled in a squalid police cell. He alleged that he was forced to consume his own urine from the cell floor due to dehydration and lack of clean water. The young tourist, who sustained serious injuries including fractured ribs and a broken wrist, contends he was targeted and possibly spiked with the hallucination-inducing drug Dimethyltryptamine (DMT).

Reflecting on his grim experience, Green recalled, "They flooded the cell and I had no option but to drink the filthy water. I was handcuffed and left to deteriorate without food or care."

His ordeal reportedly extended beyond physical abuse. Speaking from the UK, Green explained that ultimately, he managed to buy his release for an eye-watering payment of £7,000 (307,000 Baht).

Green's arrest spiralled into chaos following a dispute at a cannabis dispensary. Though he vividly recalls arguing with the dispensary's owner, the precise details of his arrest remain blurred. Despite being cleared of taking illegal substances, Green expressed his disbelief over an unfounded car theft accusation, stating, "I didn’t steal the car. I was incapacitated and unaware of what was happening."

His release only came after further payments, including £4,500 (198,000 Baht) in fines and £1,700 (74,000 Baht) in compensation to the car's owner.

In the wake of Green's detention, his family mobilised rapidly. His father, Peter, flew to Thailand, while his mother, Colleen Wilding, liaised with the British Embassy and local police. "It was his dream trip," lamented Wilding. "But our fears grew when communication ceased."

Back in England, Green sought medical treatment, revealing not just physical injuries but also dramatic shifts in his mental state. This led to his temporary admission to a psychiatric hospital for detailed evaluation. reported DAily Mail.

Amidst this turbulent saga, warnings about tourist safety in Thailand persist. Notably, the Foreign Office highlights issues of drink and vape spiking, underscoring the plight of travellers like Green.

Determined to turn this experience into a cautionary tale, the Green family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to support his recovery and to alert others of potential risks abroad. As Lewis Green focuses on healing, his story serves as a stark reminder of the complex and often perilous realities facing international tourists, reported The Thaiger.

He also says '

"Drugs are everywhere and I was offered cocaine and ketamine on the streets and you can smoke cannabis legally but I was on my own so the strongest thing I had was a few beers."

So, what was he doing on a cannabis dispensary ?

Must admit I am sure it happens but been here about 20 years and only once ever been offered cocaine was in a nightclub not the street and I politely declined but I'm a bit older than him.

Personally I think this lad is is full of <deleted> maybe he was in a cannabis dispensary doing research for his next travel blog on everything not to do in thailand or fancied a bird in there 🤣@Nick Carter icp

"An extraordinary story that could happen to anyone if you get stoned or drunk".

Extraordinary indeed but definitely not "something that could happen to anyone who gets drunk".   If your tale is true and he appeared in court and was acquitted at least he would have had his B200,000 bail returned.

That's the point.  He wasn't acquitted as promised. Drinking alone is the key, getting out of it makes you vulnerable.

I’ve just read the story on the go fund me page/ Lewis Green.  The AN story and his mothers is completely different. The bit about a girl and a car sounds feasible. It certainly sounds like he had a very violent reaction to some sort of drug. That happens. I remember in the early 70s a boy we knew died with LSD in totally crazy circumstances. And he has been hurt physically and mentally.
Green has certainly been in a very bad way since. There is no mention of what he was charged with, and how he got out of prison with no court case etc.
Im in 2 minds here about the real story.

Cobblers.

With my scientist hat on, I wouldn't say that it is beneficial for your health, but as an emergency short-term solution in a desert, it might keep you alive.  (Sitting in a prison cell is not an emergency, dehydration scenario...)

Pee is about 95% water, but the other 5% is urea and excess chemicals/minerals in your body that your excretory system (kidneys etc) are filtering out from your blood.  So drink pee for a lengthy period and you're just putting those excess chemicals back into your body again.

I know some people claim wonderful health properties from drinking pee, but the science doesn't stack up.

Where has it been reported that he was from a gypsy/traveller family?

It didn’t, but the opening line said traveller, which could mean that was what he was back home, where normally it would possibly say, tourist, holiday maker, back packer? Another poster stated the same, that's how I interpreted the opening line. You of course might think differently.

"The young tourist, who sustained serious injuries including fractured ribs and a broken wrist, contends he was targeted and possibly spiked with the hallucination-inducing drug Dimethyltryptamine (DMT)."

He seems to contending he was targeted and drugged BEFORE his argument at the cannabis shop. And that is why his memory of the argument is cloudy.

AND he seems to be contending that he was so very drugged by whoever did this to him, that he was hallucinating and therefore either not responsible for stealing the car or even unaware that he was stealing a car when he took the car

Go fund me appears to have become the modern way to get money for a holiday, why don't they all just do it the old fashioned way and save up for a holiday, get correct travel insurance and behave when abroad it's not rocket science

Because that would require working and a little bit of discipline , they don't like that ! That's so off fashioned .

At his GoFundMe page:

1) he said he was "set up by a local and being asked to drive her vehicle which then landed him up being arrested and locked up for four days in a Thai holding at the police station".

This setup included drugging him.

2) his mother wrote: "we know Lewis was drugged in Thailand with a drug that he said just gave him a over whelming feeling of psychosis".

He wasn't drugged at the police station with this hallucination causing drug or on his own. He was drugged by the woman who set him up and asked him to drive her car.

Many of your replies to this post about this man, who was very much a victim, were cruel, very unfair, and off base!

He is not a drug addict, he is gainful employed in the UK, and a reputable person. Go read his story at his GoFundMe page ( https://www.gofundme.com/f/lewis-green-ordeal-in-thailand?qid=60033ad7238c655fe11f78b7a179e367 )  because the story was described her in this forum on Aseannow.com is poorly written, misleading, and very ambiguous in its description of what occurred.

Well, well, well. I wasted my time to read this POS article that is responsible for changing my mental state of mind. I am feeling euphoric, mad, and pissed at same time. I need to start a GoFundMe to treat my condition.

£5k for a return ticket for his Dad and a single for Lewis to the UK seems a lot, even at short notice.

5k GBP buys a roundtrip non-stop business class and a one way non-stop business class to London.  And with enough left over for dad to go to a massage shop a couple of times for a tug before heading back.

Forced to drink his own piss.

Good job he wasn't hungry then!

Not only forced to drink his own piss but off the cell floor while shackled. He's claiming there wasn't even a tap for water to flush the toilet then? :whistling:

Sounds like he stole a car while under the influence of whatever drugs he was using, crashed it causing the injuries, and used the subsequent incarceration to avoid being called out for being a prat.

If he was treated badly, likely because he was being insulting or generally annoying the Thais.

While I wasn't there to know ( obviously ) sounds like just another numptie that bought a plane ticket to LOS and while there behaved badly. Some people should be banned from traveling for their own safety.

That shows what little you know. Many cases of mental problems from using weed. I personally know someone that became a nutter from using it to much.

The biggest lie is that it's harmless.
