It would be a smart decision of Thai government to limit 60 visa free entries to 30 visa free entries  for nationals of some countries like Russia, India and China  who violate Thai immigration laws most by

working illegally in major resorts of Thailand taking jobs from Thais and threatening Thai national security.!

Particularly Putin-russians  are a major concern for Thailand  with very high level criminality  and corruption in Pattaya and Phuket., easy opening condos in Thai banks and getting thai driving licenses to avoid world sanctions due to Putin regime aggression to Ukraine.

Most of those russki mafia thugs  get 1 year student visa  and they start  operate illegally in Thailand .

They  run  for example money exchange companies across Thailand dealing with billions of money laundering  and converting huge amounts of rubles from Russia  that  currently under world sanctions into Thai baht and then in US dollars. which they later successfully invest in real estates companies offering to Russian  tourists Russian languages -luxury villas and condominium across Thailand .

.Putinists feel also free in Thailand  to control russian prostitution  and  sex escort services ,

They (open and run not only restaurants with Thai proxy owners but even numerous Ganja/ Cannabis shops across Pattaya and  Phuket ,control  rent a car a bike companies, working illegally as travel agents and tour guides, some of them even working illegally as Bolt drivers with fake certificate.

Russian hookers use pocket WiFi routers with specific names of public hotspots offering sexual servisers to farangs.

 

Many of puti russians work for criminal Putin regime and  have opened fake Thai import companies to purchase military equipment via Korea,  Japan , China and  Hong-Kong which is needed for Putin thugs  to continue  barbaric war towards Ukraine..

So this is a real threat to Thai national security and visa restriction should be imposed as soon as possible!

Agreed, but you were referring to brown envelopes not coming through due to missing out on 1900 baht extension fees. 

I'm always wondering why people are bleating on about brown envelopes, in many different circumstances, when they clearly have no idea. And then following up with 'you must be new here ', also mostly stated by people who think they know how things work but have really no idea.

I've seen alot of Brits and Americans working on tours around the islands - it's a protected jobs. When some of them have been confronted they have said they are 'influencers' and just headlining/advertising the tour - but they have sold it as though they are leading the tour. Massive fees, and openly advertising. You have some Brits going on tiktik doing raffle tickets, etc - just very weird. 

 

So whilst the Chinese and Russians in particular are preveleant at this - it's stretches across many. If you are going to stay here long term you will no doubt seek work - especially as Thailand attracts low quality tourists on a budget.

The past 2 years have been a storm of absolute carnage and destruction of a great country - but the utter lunacy and garbage of an open border, the politics of the playground. Crumbling infrustructure, enviromentally a disaster for some of the most beautiful islands, crime rampant, locals put out. 

 

'NO DECISION HAS BEEN MADE / ONGOING DISCUSSIONS' means nothing will change. The Chinese will continue to arrive in masses and pillage and work in Thailand for all it can. Draft dodging Russians will continue to set up businesses in Thailand that they are not supposed to. Benidorm Brits will continue to arrive to create havoc and violence. Indians will continue to arrive to look for bargain women to accodomate their group, ten to sleep in a room or on a beach. No checks on balances on any single visitor.

I've been having a fair few questions asked at Immigration lately - due to family commitments I no longer have a long term visa in Thailand.

 

I returned to the UK for 6 weeks and got a right grilling at Immigration on my return.

 

Maybe he was in a bad mood.

People always talk about foreigners taking jobs away from Thais by working illegally.  What jobs, exactly, would someone do "illegally"?  What foreigner would want to work for 400 baht a day as a security guard or a clerk at a convenience store?  

 

And whatever the Russias are doing here, how is that taking away jobs from Thai people?  What jobs, exactly?

 

It seems to me that, if there is a problem, that problem should be addressed by the Thai police, not at the immigration counter.

It's only to be expected however many days allowed. It has far more to do with enforcement and potentially corruption. Malaysia lets you in with 90 days and a smile. But you'd have to be well versed to try and pull that kind of poo there.

 

I spent my entire life from childhood through to advanced middle age gaming every system I could. It's quite natural for some.

 

In fact I gamed a system very effectively this winter back home ... lots of virtually free money - feelin' quite chuffed about it as well. Nice to know the old dog ain't dead yet.

tour guides is a thai only occupation.

I'm here on Wongamat Beach, in Pattaya.  Russians are everywhere.  And if I walk down the street, I see Russian  travel booths set up. II'm not sure about motorcycle or car rentals or weed shops.  We have those kinds of businesses here in the neighborhood. 

 

But if there are Russians running these businesses, what stops the Thai police from checking up on them?  They seem to be operating out in the open. 

 

Anyway, how many Thais speak Russian and can be guides for Russians here on vacation?

You have to be kidding.  I'm pretty sure cops drive down the street every day, more or less.  They aren't blind. 

 

Anyway, I'm sure it's all a matter for the police, not for Thai Immigration.

I have a couple of friends that are immigration Police, one of whom I met the other day, and she says they are having major problems with the behaviour of Indians and Russians in particular.
