So my Canadian friend upon being advised that our embassy will no longer  facilitate verification of pension income to support the retirement extension of stay , has been told that this can be accomplished by a Thai notary verifying  3 preceeding months of Canadian bank statements for a similar but slightly higher fee.

    What are the chances of this being accurate?

    No Thai bashing please. 555

Can't see that working.

When this occurred for UK USA and AU folk, immigration were flexible for next extension. Cannot recall the details.

Your friend "has been told..."

By who.

A notary cannot notarize the veracity of the documents, only your signature. You present "bank documents" to a notary. How does he or she know for sure where they came from? Nowadays almost any document can be falsified.

@Shwaman

At what immigration office is your friend making his application?

Ideally, he should post himself on this forum so that he may directly respond to questions for clarification. Can you suggest that to him?

Sadly your friend was told incorrectly, and once the Canadian embassy stops issuing the affidavit of income from abroad notary document there will be no way for Canucks to show income in Canada.

The only way they will be able to show proof of funds for monthly income method will be to transfer in the minimum required amount per month, each month, every month, for the previous 12 months before they apply for a new extension.

Just like every other country whose embassy has stopped issuing that affidavit.

There is no in country work around, there is no document you can show from your country, once the embassy letter stops you are done showing proof of funds in your country for monthly income method
