Pavena Foundation Rescues Abused Children, Pursues Legal Action
Picture courtesy of siamrath Pavena Hongsakul, chairman of the Pavena Hongsakul Foundation for Children and Women, has brought to light a harrowing case of domestic abuse involving a 28-year-old mother from Krabi province. The woman, Miw, reported that her ex-partner, Nueng, had unlawfully taken custody of their two children, aged 10 and seven, and was abusing them. Miw's troubles began after separating from Nueng three years ago due to his drug addiction and infidelity. Despite originally having custody, Miw allowed the children to stay with Nueng temporarily upon his request. However, he never returned them and consistently barred Miw from visiting, resorting to violence against the children if she tried. The situation escalated when a neighbour sent Miw photos showing her son with severe bruises, indicative of abuse. Her son later disclosed that his father had inflicted injuries with a stick, the blunt side of a knife, and even stabbed him with scissors. Alarmed for her children's safety, Miw sought urgent assistance from the Pavena Foundation on March 21. Pavena coordinated with the local authorities, including Police Colonel Prasit Yodthong, social services officer Pornpavee Uraisawat, and Kittisak Wutipong from Krabi's Child and Family Shelter, to intervene. When they arrived at Nueng's residence, they found the children alone and injured. With Nueng absent, the children were placed in protective custody and are set to be reunited with their mother. The police are compiling evidence to issue an arrest warrant for Nueng on charges of assault and domestic violence. Medical examinations for the children are being conducted, and a multidisciplinary interview is scheduled for early April. Pavena expressed gratitude for the swift response from all parties involved and noted an improvement in the children’s mental state under the shelter’s care. The Pavena Foundation, along with the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, will continue to monitor and support the case as it progresses towards legal resolution, reported The Thaiger. -- 2025-03-28 -
