To make it even more laughable is that for the expats living ongoing in Thailand their addresses, phone # etc already in the system via extension records, TM47 and TM30 records etc.

And my understanding of the Guide is that even those with permanent residency status will be subject to this bureaucratic nonsense!

I don't agree.  They're probably identifying quite a few problems as posters here access the site from the real world, using real browsers, and asking real world questions.

Better they find them before the rollout than after.

Absolutely wrong!!!

The correct way is to test as you say with real world scenarios but the testing should be performed by professional testers with the site inaccessible to others, then when fit for purpose, released as Beta allowing approved users on.

Professional testers will ask real world questions, if they're good at the job - I certainly did!

Your suggestion is what Microsoft appears to do, relying on the end users to do their bug finding instead of producing a finished product on day one hence the constant flow of updates to Windows.

Especially since there's a lot of airlines banning power banks on flights, so a lot of passengers arrive with dead smartphones.  That's been a learning curve for me flying the Chinese airlines where power banks can't be used in flight.  Making sure I don't run out of battery.

Most airliners have power / USB sockets adjacent to the seats. I understand these are still available.

Not on most of the 80+ flights I've taken in the past 2 years to and from China.  Maybe 1 in 10, and none of the most common, 737-800's.

That's just 2 different philosophies...  One's valid for mega corporations with thousands of technical staff and huge budgets and a presence in every possible scenario.  (Like behind the Great Firewall, where I can't access the site at all.)

I know a lot of AN posters would be thrilled, but it would be a real kick in TAT's nuts if Chinese tourism dropped to zero on day 1 of the rollout.

I guess some folk have done a mock run at the fill in "form"

I just did (up to a point)

Some minor issues:

When it came to nationality I typed AU.

Easy except it then auto filed +61 start of phone #.

Could not change to Thai #. So put made up  Oz cell #

For address I put fictitious one and accepted.

Asks for entry date, flight details etc.

No problem however asks for departure information. (flight out)

I'm one way as I live in Thailand.

Nightmare on elm st #5

Edit: thread running on this in News forum

That's reasonable.

But if you do the permutations of the systems (Win, Linux, Android, IOS, Harmony, etc), multiply by the number of browsers available, then add in the idiosyncrasies of all the different locations (like the Great Firewall), that's a tall order to test them all.  Add in the language confusion of even the English speaking travelers (is it residence or nationality? etc).  I'm not sure that software engineers can emulate the Ludditism of their target demographic, no matter what their budget.

The earlier they get real world feedback, the less of a chance of a true catastrophe.

I do understand, that's exactly what I used to do professionally....it's time consuming but should be done.... IMO

just want to make it more clear. Let's say someone has to take a flight to thailand from his country of origin on 1th april and he is going to arrive to thailand on 2th april. What day he should fill this tdac online? On 30th march is that right?

And what flight number you have to write? flight from your country of origin or just the second and last flight(connecting flight?)

It's departure information mandatory or you can leave it blank?

So if you are not Thai but reside in Thailand what do you enter in country of residence. Ive looked several times but cannot find Thailand ?

I'll use my passport country for country of residence and my place of birth for city of residence, at least that will be easy to remember for consistency.

And what else could they expect? If you actually reside in Thailand but they don't have Thailand in the list ...

Yellow fever, not COVID.

Ah, so is being vaccinated against yellow fever mandatory for entry into Thailand? The UK government website says that it's not and from what I've seen on a Thai government website it says only if you come from or have traveled to/through a yellow fever country?

The form asks for your recent travel history.  If you state you have been in one of the relevant countries it goes on to ask for your vaccination details.  If you don't list a yellow fever country then the vaccination question doesn't appear.

Country of residence, Thailand is absent.. I do not live anywhere else !

Yes, something that will need to be fixed.

I've lived in Thailand for 20+ years and will also need to complete one for my son who was born in Thailand and has never lived anywhere else!

Does your Son have a Thai passport ?

A very clear explanation.

Yes easy read.

It points out that no option of "country of residence" being Thailand and some "modifications" will be along.

Surely that would have been obvious.

In addition for the expats living in Thailand and trip to home country or anywhere, most likely will not have an exit (return flight) from Thailand.

If leaving it blank works fine.

Doubt it.

Departure information are nonsense as you can extend 30 days more at your local immigration and what if you want to do a border bounce? Do you have to do another online tdac? It's boring and nonsense

You do one for every entry to Thailand.

I mentioned border bounce in a previous post.

So presumably you would do your TDAC couple of days prior to border run.

As for entering Thailand visa exempt thinking details of flight out of Thailand within 60 days would be best option.

Hopefully can be fictitious flight as many folk obtain extension or bounce

Ok clear but what about departure information? Especially if you need to do a border bounce
