The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has confirmed that there were no reported casualties among Filipinos in Myanmar and Thailand following the strong earthquakes that struck both countries on Friday, March 28. According to the Philippine Embassy, approximately 811 registered Filipino nationals reside in Myanmar, with no reports of damage or casualties following the quake.

The epicenter of the earthquake in Myanmar was recorded near the city of Monywa. The DFA assured that the embassy is closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates on the safety and welfare of overseas Filipinos as needed.

Similarly, the Philippine Embassy in Bangkok reported no harm to Filipinos following the 7.7 magnitude earthquake that affected regions of Thailand, including Bangkok. With 32,950 Filipinos residing in Thailand, the embassy is advising the community to stay calm and vigilant, relying on credible sources for updates.

For assistance, the Embassy in Yangon is reachable via the Assistance-to-Nationals (ATN) hotline at +95 998 521 0991 or through the official Facebook Messenger of the Philippine Embassy in Myanmar. In Bangkok, Filipinos can reach out through the ATN hotline at +66 81 989 7116 or via email at [email protected] for emergencies.

The embassies continue to emphasize the importance of monitoring reliable updates and maintaining vigilance in the aftermath of these seismic events, reported Manila Bulletin.
