American Stage-3 Cancer Stoner Seeking Grass-Friendly Hospice

Featured Replies

I'm a long-time orbiter of LoS, and worked for STOU from 1984 ~ 1986, while living in Rak Si (we called it "Roxy") in a nice old terribly hot wooden house run by a couple we referred to as "The Witch" and "The Zombie". Visits to the Kingdom from 1969 ... last trip there with an old pal and his family in 2024.

I moved to Indonesia in 1988, and have been a Communications Worker as well as ESL "Edutainer" here. Only a lurker on the aseannow site, as I seem to have little in common with the majority of contributors.

One of my old ESL teaching pals, a California stoner in his late 50s operating a surfing camp in Krui, West Lampung (Sumatra) has recently been diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer and it seems to be spreading rapidly. I suspect he's down with the "turbocancer" derived from the "safe&effective" bioweapon clotshots, but have kept my mouth shut.

He's in a wheelchair and suffering, as the medicos here are miserly with painkillers. He has asked about Thailand because he knows my history, and I am thus writing to seek possible leads to a facility where he can stay stoned on grass while whiling out his remaining days (not long, I'd surmise). I hate to say "hospice" but that is essentially what it would be. No sterile hospital setting, thanks - we have plenty of those down here.

Any suggestions? I know that there was a discussion of retirement homes for wealthy foreigners (wrinklies death watch), but have heard nothing about a facility that would take care of you and keep you zonked on mary-hoochy.

Have you tried an online search?

To get pass the medical cannabis eligibility requirements, your medical condition needs to fall in a list of approved medical conditions. All patients suffering from medical conditions listed in the approved medical conditions such as cancer, migraine etc., can seek medical marijuana to treat their symptoms.

Having a doctor’s certificate, patients need to visit one of the designated clinics located in Pattaya. The cannabis clinic is the final step in this heavily regulated cannabis acquisition process.

Currently, there is only one cannabis clinic which dispenses medical cannabis to meet the needs of patients looking to use cannabis as remedy against their health conditions.

The location and contact details of the Origene Clinic Pattaya is listed below.

Origene Clinic Pattaya, 8/114 Moo 6 Sukhumvit Road, Muang Pattaya, Amphoe Bang Lamung, Tel: 0659989449, Email: [email protected]

Your prompt response is most appreciated, 'save the frogs'.

I feel at a loss in this matter as I've not partaken of the magic vegetable since the early 1970s, after smoking up half the ditches in Mexico.

I'm still hunting for a location where my stricken pal can reside while in Thailand (and with easy access to the killer-weed). If he continues to go downhill that would include overseeing the usual messy bodily functions, I presume, as well as serving food and fun.

I was simply wondering whether any enterprising "medical tourism" operation had set up a facility based around therapeutic cannabis.

sorry, i missed the "reside" part.

that clinic is for medical cannabis for cancer, but not sure about the reside part.

i can try asking a local here if they have some info, but I may not speak to them until sunday.

maybe need to hire a live-in nurse and close enough to a cannabis clinic is the only thing i can think of for now.

I just added cannabis to the search ...

Since 2020, Lampang Hospital has made THC and THC:CBD 1:1 available at the palliative care clinic for advanced cancer patients with disturbing symp- toms.

Just try googling Lampang Hospital maybe ... that's all I got. All the best.

There are quite a few hospices up in the north. I believe there’s a fairly well-known one run by a foreigner that I’ve seen mentioned on this forum before.

As for the weed side of things, that’s the easy bit. You can get that anywhere. Though smoking it probably isn’t ideal for him at this stage. The coughing alone could be rough on him, and most facilities likely wouldn’t allow it anyway since the smoke could bother other residents.

The best option would be to go to one of the cannabis shops and have them brew up a strong, potent cannabis oil for him to take as an edible. That way he can dose up all day long without disturbing anyone, and live out the rest of his time in whichever hospice he prefers.

Have a look at a couple of places – one called Care Resort Chiang Mai, which I think is run by a British bloke, and another called Vivobene Village, which is run by a Swiss guy.

Thanks again. This is not at all my area of expertise but I thought I should do my best as I was asked, as someone familiar with life in LoS (at least in former times...)

A dry herb vaporizer like the Pax 3 would reduce coughing and the smell would stay in the room, but tolerance builds quickly and they oils would still be necessary.

He needs to get proof of address, wait one week, and then they loose it, so do again, get ticket wait all day, wrong counter, come back tomorrow, make a copy of the copies.  Next stay for 6 months and do the 90 days.  Then get ED visa and go to the Thai embassy in Laos.  Make sure he has money but no job.  Absolutly no job because that is illegal.  Get the teacher to sign to book and show the signiture page to immigration.  Will take about 8 hours.  Now get the TEFL.  Make sure you gave a full suit for the demo classes.  Disabled students and teachers are no accepted in Thai schools so that might be a problem.  They use a homeschool model for those and online teaching for those.  Now find a teacher agency.  They will stamp you passport under the table but next year the same officer will ask you to pay a fine because his own stamps that he did a year ago are false.  Should be about 30,000.  Teach for 8 years.  Now you can start to think about a retirement visa and clinic options.
