The Hanoi People's Committee has announced a pivotal directive to transition the city's entire public bus fleet to electric and green energy vehicles by 2030. This ambitious plan, issued on April 8, requires a comprehensive roadmap with annual targets to be presented to the municipal government by April 15, 2025.

Key steps in this transformation include updating the quality assessment criteria for public bus services, with finalized proposals expected by the end of this month. The initiative aims to enhance the efficiency and environmental sustainability of Hanoi’s public transportation system.

The Department of Construction will spearhead the planning and allocation of land for electric vehicle charging stations. Additionally, the department is tasked with developing interest rate subsidy policies, encouraging investments in green bus technologies starting in April.

To support this transition, the Department of Industry and Trade is responsible for maintaining a reliable power supply for the new electric bus infrastructure. Concurrently, the Department of Finance will work on simplifying loan procedures, facilitating easier access to funding for businesses investing in green energy transportation solutions.

Hanoi’s move towards a fully electric public bus system reflects a broader commitment to reducing urban emissions and promoting sustainable city living. By 2030, the city's efforts are expected to significantly contribute to environmental conservation and improve the quality of public transportation services, reported VN Express.
