I don´t drink but I went earlier this year with 2 people who do.  One of their cocktails is $40+ and draft beer was $20.

Yeah cocktails there are priced frm Bt.1150 to Bt.9100.

They sell decent cigars too.

Thats a very cool place. My kid and I did Koh Kret a few years ago. I think they had a place in Pak Kret too?

Same one I'm referencing, and only one I've been to.  Think that's the only one.

Hemingway’s on Soi 11. Definitely feels like a crossroads of travelers and locals. Superb Thai and western food menu. I can see why a lot of people go on dates there.

Further down the soi, Above 11. An uncrowded rooftop bar with Peruvian sushi. Peruvian sushi is my favorite kind of sushi not expensive for what it is and the location.

Robin Hood pub. There’s three other pubs on the same street, but Robin Hood prints out the daily mail every day to read, and they have a great meet up every Sunday night at 7:30.

Great 199 baht lunch specials, but the other three places are also offering super lunch deals too.

Robin Hood pub is the first one on the corner of the block, so I go there instead of the others 95% of the time.

Bars are for losers, Susan.

Relative to the bar ...

I prefer open air and must have a view ...

... our back or front veranda / porch

... surfside

... hilltop

... riverside

... lakeside

... even people watching on Soi 4 (Nana) can be interesting

Definitely not inside a 4 walled building (pub style) or club that you can't have a conversation in.

After years of research and extensive fieldwork, I’ve compiled the definitive list of the coolest bars in Bangkok. Criteria were strict and data was peer-reviewed. Here’s what truly makes a Bangkok bar cool:

1. Bars that are open

2. Bars with toilets

3. Bars that don’t play techno

4. Bars without entrance fees

5. Bars where nobody tries to sell you a watch

6. Bars that don’t smell like a wet dog

7. Bars where the live band isn’t tone deaf

8.  Bars where the drinks aren't overpriced

9.  Bars that aren't too crowded

10.  Bars where Harrisfan isn't

Bars that have no exit fee?

Like a beer garden or a view.
