What should be a joyful Songkran festival in Pattaya has taken a hazardous turn, prompting urgent warnings from city officials. As traditional water fights enliven the streets, authorities are raising alarms about the use of high-pressure water guns, which have surged into areas like Soi 6, Soi Buakhao, and Jomtien.

These enhanced water blasters, far from being mere party toys, pose significant risk. An anonymous local highlighted the danger, stating, “The force of these high-pressure water guns is so strong it could easily unseat someone from a bike.”

Reports suggest these powerful devices are being sold openly and in secret, exacerbating safety concerns in an already lively holiday atmosphere. Law enforcement is taking a hard stance against the use and sale of these water guns, with Pattaya police confirming their zero-tolerance policy. "These high-pressure water guns are dangerous," a police spokesperson affirmed. "We are actively confiscating them from anyone we find using or selling them."

The risk is particularly pronounced around bustling Songkran hotspots, where throngs of pedestrians and motorbikes mix. Officials worry that the force of water from these guns could cause severe accidents, especially if riders are dislodged from their bikes or pedestrians lose footing on slick surfaces.

Community voices echo the officials' concerns, urging revelers to exercise caution and maintain the essence of the festival as a celebration of Thai culture and tradition, rather than a chaotic free-for-all. The public is reminded that safety should not be overlooked in the festivities.

Law enforcement is clear: those caught in possession of these high-pressure water guns during Songkran face firm consequences. With Wan Lai celebrations still on the horizon, Pattaya officials emphasize the need for responsible celebration, urging everyone to stick to the rules or watch their water weaponry get confiscated.

As Songkran proceeds, the hope remains that the festival's spirit of joy and community prevails, with fun safely shared by all, reported The Thaiger.

But you have real guns, load them with rubber bullets and have a go at them.
