“I was invited by the King and the great country … It is beautiful,” Trump stated during a press briefing in the Oval Office on Thursday. “It is the second time it has happened to one person. The reason is we have two separate terms and it’s an honour to be a friend of King Charles and the family, William.”

Trump went on to suggest that preparations for the visit are already underway. “I think they are setting a date for September,” he said, adding, “I don’t know how it can be bigger than the last one. The last one was incredible but they say the next one will be even more important.”

 

 

The invitation, described by royal aides as “unprecedented,” was formally extended in February and delivered by UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer during his first meeting with Trump after the former president's return to Washington.
