We saw how it was working last week, with several fights in this city... and High tech?? They are not able to make an app for the TM7 card yet... So Thailand and High teach are dreams  and dreams are not real

In reading the above article, Thailand's version of 'high tech' is a plastic wallet for your phone and an app that I would not trust in a million years.

PS not all tourists use apps.

Many do, some do not.

Sadly, of late, it sounds like they all will have to!

Tourists celebrating Songkran in Koh Larn this year were welcomed not just with water splashes but also by an innovative safety operation featuring high-tech patrols and immersive security measures. Spearheaded by Police General Saksira Phuakam, Commander of the Tourist Police, the initiative aimed to ensure a safe and memorable festival for all visitors.

The operation kicked off at the Multi-Purpose Hall on Laem Bali Hai Pier in South Pattaya, where a coordinated effort was launched involving the Tourist Police Division 4, Pattaya Police, Chon Buri Immigration, Pattaya City Municipality, and the Marine Department. Their unified mission was to manage the influx of thousands heading to the island, ensuring smooth ferry operations and visitor safety.

Festivities were bolstered with practical gifts; tourists received water-resistant envelopes, thoughtfully distributed to protect their phones and valuables amid Songkran's traditional water fights. "The aim is to make sure everyone enjoys the festival safely and conveniently," assured Pol. Gen. Saksira.

In an effort to connect technology with tourist support, authorities promoted the TPB mobile application, a resource providing 24/7 support in eight languages, designed as a direct line to the Tourist Police for emergencies. This tech-savvy approach highlighted Pattaya's commitment to a safe, hassle-free experience for visitors.

Recognising community support, Pol. Gen. Saksira awarded certificates to individuals who contributed valuable information to the police, enhancing the security framework during the celebrations.

Stealing the spotlight was the introduction of an "intelligent aerial patrol system," which employs autonomous drones to monitor large crowds. This real-time surveillance tool demonstrated Pattaya's push towards tech-enabled public safety, showcasing how advanced aerial views can assist in efficient crowd management.

As the festival unfolded, this comprehensive operation highlighted Pattaya's innovative spirit, reinforcing that Songkran 2025 is about embracing both tradition and technology to ensure a safe, enjoyable celebration for everyone, reported The Thaiger.
