It is correct that a foreigner who has legal residence in a country other than his passport country should indicate the actual country of residence on the TDAC form.

 

Currently, the TDAC form does not allow foreigners with legal residence in Thailand to select Thailand as their country of residence. There has been an announcement that this will be corrected and that in the meantime the country of citizenship should be indicated.

On the TDAC form, it is currently not a required field.

 

If you don't have a visa, leave the field blank.

 

If you have a visa, you can choose between leaving it blank or giving the visa number.

You will enter on the new passport, an old passprt can only be used to prevent a visa exempt stamp.

I don't know what country issued your passport, but in my Swiss passport the passport number is not encrypted but shown in plain script.

 

On the ID page, at the top of the page, the number is shown in a regular font, in the second line of the machine-readable zone at the bottom of the page in a special font designed for that purpose.

What about people who are living here happily ever after and do not leave Thailand.  Potentially they will never be in the system or have I missed something about them having to register somehow?

The TDAC is not about the foreigners living in Thailand. It is about inputting and managing the data relating to the arriving foreigners' travel travel to Thailand.

 

The immigration officials will have less checking and typing to do and this will hopefully speed up immigration clearance.

I took a look at the website.  It does ask for more information than the old TM paper form did.

 

  It now asks for state/city of home.  One's passport does NOT include that information and where one lives in their home country, assuming one has a current regular address is really no business of others

 

  It  asks for phone number.  That will not work very well because I get a Thai SIM card and cheap phone when I land in thailand and that will not be known in advance.

 

  Another issues is it asks for departure flight information.  I typically arrive on an open ended booking on EVA.  I guess I could make up some departure information but I prefer to list actual information, but the online form doesn't give that option.

 

And now the mechanics as others have mentioned.  I do NOT use my smart phone for literally anything.  I never upload any QR thingy because one does not know what that actually contains.  The site does allow for printing out the form, supposedly, but that is not always easy to do unless one has a printer at home.  One could be traveling, one could be in a foreign country, or any number of other situations where getting to a printer is not trivial or convenient.

he wasn't asking about how to decrypt an encrypted passport number.  He was asking if anybody had figured out which passport number to use as he had multiple things changing

There have been lots of thread on this topic.  All points have been addressed.  In summary;

 

State/City - Use the information from your passport.  Thailand "residents" cannot enter Thailand in this field (yet).  Same advice.

Phone Number - The paper TM6 also asked for this.  Nothing new, enter any number you like.  The country code will default to that of your stated home country but that can be overwritten.

Departure - this is optional information.  Do not enter anything in this section.

It seems they will accept the QR code on paper or on a "device".  Note that it is not you that "uploads" the QR code, you simply display it for the immigration officer to read.

 

And finally, for the unwilling and/or incapable, it can be done on arrival.  There will be a facility for this.  But is it is likely to be busy it is probably best avoided.

I was getting an online tourist visa for a country I won't name several years ago..It ask me about previous visits and visas ,When I attempted to enter the info it would not allow it.. ( the previous trips were for business trips with a business visa and that seemed to be the problem)

I managed to phone some kind of customer service and was told to just lie .

Seems common solution.

What "system" are you talking about. The one that monitors arrivals/departures or the one that monitors the visa status of those in the Kingdom.

Some aspects of the first were suspended and being reintroduced. Immigration has never stopped stamping passports on entry.

The TM6 is nothing new.  This iteration is much better than the old one with the paper slip and everyone on the plane trying to find a pen.

 

The Thai government, and especially TAT, can't wait to have this data.  That's what they want more than anything.  Has nothing to do with control.  That's what the TM30 and TM47 are for.

Immediately.  The TDAC is not an approval process. It's just you entering your information into a database.

Reports on here have stated it's virtually instant. Anything else would be useless given that it can be done on arrival.  Time will tell of course when it goes live.

I take it you can do it anytime before arrival , I hear about 3 days before arrival but surely can be done anytime as I work on a ship and when flying home to Thailand sometimes only get flight details the night before the flight I never get 3 days in advance

you still need an email from them to show at immigration, you can't just entering your information and be done with it

WITHIN 3 days. You cannot do it earlier, you can do it from 3 days before arrival and until you queue at immigration in Thailand.

When a new passport is issued, the previous passport, if it still had a valid term, is cancelled. The common procedure is to issue only one national passport per person.

It did not appear to me that the departure was optional.

If you travel or are already traveling how can you get an email and print it out?  How quickly is the email sent after you submit the form using the website?  Even if I bring my smartphone, I will NOT have service inside BKK unless or until I buy some new SIM card, or buy some travel connection plan
