Yeah, it wasn't so bad.  I just wish the queue ,management was better.

It does get hairy right at the front.  My suggestion is to watch while you're in the snaky part of the queue because some of the IOs are much faster than others.  Then get in their queue at the front.

Came in last night with no problems.  (and no QR, just a sheet printed with my passport #, DTAC number and date of arrival)

But they were sending around 1 in 3 or 4 travelers back to get their DTAC in order when it was their turn in the queue.  Most of the arrivals had their data on their smartphone screen- no paper and that was fine.  Some had nuthin'.  That wasn't fine.  Though the queue was short just after midnight, it was very slow.  Looks like they're still dialing it in.  I'd have hated to arrive at peak time.

The DTAC machines in the foyer on the way to immigrations had no queue at all, but they were off to the left and not very clearly marked, (around where the VOA's were issued).

I arrived on Monday.  Of course I'd already done the TDAC.  Gave only passport, didn't show QR or anything related to the TDAC.  No problems.  So the need to show anything is unnecessary as they can see if you've done it on their system.

That may be true, but the IOs were diligently scrolling through people's smartphone screens.  Though I guess they may have been looking for boarding pass information and not the DTAC.  Not sure whether virtual boarding passes are available for international flights because I've always had a paper boarding pass.

Guess it's the consistent inconsistency we get used to.  I didn't show a boarding pass either.

I would mention that all of the IOs last night were female, but that would probably get me in trouble in some circles.  It was true, though.

They did have one really tall dude who was walking between the stations to solve problems.

Your flight information is in your digital arival card. Didnt even look at my boarding pass which I put between the pages where my visa is

It's probably that simple, but there are 2 things that make me wonder...

1) What if the info on the TDAC is incorrect, whether by error or by mischief?  It would be a trivial database exercise to figure that out if they have access to the flight manifests and a database guru that can do it while the plane's in the air.  But do they?  I know the skills are available in Thailand, but does immigration have them?

2) The LED signs above the IO stations request passport, DTAC and boarding pass.  I just do what the signs say and life is easier.

Seems like they'd want to confirm that all the data matches and there were no errors or omissions.

I dont believe they ever looked at the boarding card unless they where suspicious for some reason.

Anyway it is a long time since I jumped the boarders for in and out, and since then I had my stuff together, enough ti e out, or proper visa

I've been doing it once a month for just over 2 years with no end in sight, so I take a keen interest.  And I appreciate anyone who points out where I may be wrong.  Sometimes, I'm just spitballing in the hope that someone that knows better will straighten me out.  That's one of the ways I learn.  But I try to make it clear that I'm spitballing and not offering definitive info.  Sometimes, I fail.
