Tens of thousands flocked to the streets of central Ho Chi Minh City on Tuesday to witness a vibrant rehearsal ahead of Vietnam's 50th anniversary of national reunification. The main parade is set for April 30, commemorating 50 years since the Vietnam War concluded in 1975.

As early as 5 p.m., roads around key locations such as the Independence Palace, Le Duan, and Pham Ngoc Thach were barricaded, as people eagerly gathered to watch the rehearsal. Excitement was palpable in the atmosphere, with adults and children spilling into the streets near prominent landmarks like the District 1 People's Committee and the Diamond Plaza.

The area next to the iconic Notre Dame Cathedral of Saigon and intersections like Mac Dinh Chi - Le Duan were crowded with young spectators, many preparing their phones to capture the event. People donned red shirts emblazoned with yellow stars, mirroring the Vietnamese national flag, and brought little flags in hand as symbols of celebration.

The full parade will feature over 10,000 soldiers and police officers, expected to march through the streets in front of the Independence Palace. Anticipation ran high as three hours before the rehearsal commenced, eager spectators had already secured spots along the streets for a better view, filling every corner from Pham Ngoc Thach Street to the intersection of Le Duan - Ton Duc Thang.

By 6 p.m., an entourage began arriving from Dong Nai Province to District 1, further adding to the growing crowd. Many people captured the moment soldiers marched towards the rehearsal site, preserving memories of this significant precursor to a historic celebration. The bustling throngs and charged atmosphere underscored the importance of this national milestone, as the city prepares to reflect on its history and celebrate unity.
