120 Million Baht Compensation for SAO Collapse Victims

China Railway No. 10 (Thailand) has pledged 120 million baht in humanitarian compensation to the victims of the State Audit Office (SAO) building collapse in Nakhon Ratchasima, where 51 lives were lost and dozens remain missing. Justice Minister Tawee Sodsong clarified that this compensation does not interfere with ongoing criminal proceedings, which involve four suspects accused of nominee practices. Investigations are also probing procurement fraud and fake tax invoices linked to a steel supplier. The company’s move to provide financial support is seen as a gesture of goodwill, though legal accountability will still follow its due course. This tragedy continues to expose deeper issues of corruption and oversight in large-scale construction projects.
