Well you are definitely in the wrong place then. You should try India or Burma or Pakistan or Afghanistan or Turkey or Libya or any of the 60 or so countries I've visited..That area of Pattaya is a Gay area and not the least bit intimidating.

why would you feel intimidated?

just avoid going to that part of the beach.

where should they be moved to? if you have a better place for them, maybe you can bring it to the attention of the authorities.

This may be perceived by some as being a bit callous, but I am fed up with the drunk homeless people that live on the footpath in the car park on Dongtan beach Jomtien. There are at least 30 of them that have set up home there. They have their sparse belongings piled up at the back of the beach and bring them up to the top where they sleep and drink all day. There is a woman who has a few dirty beach mats and tries to rent them out. They are always load and drunk, visible to the authorities, but they don't care. As a foreigner who lives here, I feel intimidated and if anything damages Thailand's reputation, it's this.

You could try offering 1 or 2 of them a bed at your place, no doubt it would bring joy to their lives hearing you bang on about nothing important

Are you being held hostage?

No one is forcing you to stay.

You mean it is all men? How can you tell if they are homosexuals or not? The post mentions there is a woman there.

Another keyboard Richard Head warrior. I have been here 12 years, married to my Thai wife. I am on the beach now and the homeless are everywhere. I know they have to stay somewhere but stay off the  beach, spoiling it for everyone.

Ahh,Dongtan beach.i can still remember when the only thing you ever went there for was to get bummed.I still miss the good old days.

Contrary to popular opinion. Dongtan Beach is "not full of homosexuals". Normal people trying to enjoy the beach. After dark it's different I am told.

It has long been known as a gay area..I have never felt in danger of being “bummed“ there though.

I slept on the beach at Dongtan curve with just my then girlfriend and a paraffin lamp as protection 😍

She enjoyed it.  It was one of those

days/night's with constant almost gale force wind comming off the sea

(gave Pattaya its name I suppose)

It was so nice and cool we just decided to sleep right there on the beach ,wind was still blowing at dawn.
