The ‘word stage’ significance of Carney’s win is he can now pursue his stated aim to align Canada with Europe, the UK Australia and New Zealand and reduce reliance on the U.S.

Nations acting together against U.S. threats rather than individually.

As Carney has stated, we are now in a new world order, the response needs to be to that new order.

They are too far away

The trouble with that, unfortunately, is a near universal economic phenomenon called gravity. Basically, there is a positive correlation between how close countries are and how much they trade with each other. Now what Mexicans have said seems also to have come true for Canada. Here is the slightly revised version: Poor Canada, so far from God, so close to the United States.

It was a question, what's the policy going forward. I hear he's the liberal candidate and those are the major ideas floating around are they not?

And more good news...

Pierre Poilievre, Canada’s Opposition Leader, Loses Seat in Parliament

Pierre Poilievre, the leader of the Conservative Party, was unseated as the parliamentary representative of his Ottawa district in a stunning upset that could put his leadership of the party in question...

Bruce Fanjoy, the Liberal candidate who is a well-known community volunteer but was initially considered a long shot, won the race.

Mr. Poilievre embraced some of Mr. Trump’s rhetoric, railing against “radical woke ideology” while pledging to defund Canada’s national broadcaster and cut foreign aid.

PP losing his seat is just icing on the cake.

The right man got the job, and maple maga got shown the door.

That is a lot better!

But instead of asking here why not go to the appropriate Carney website and get it direct?

Canada is headed down a dark path. I'm going to take a few shots of maple syrup.

The unemployment rate in Canada rose to 6.7% in March 2025 from 6.6% in February 2025, marking the first decrease in total employment since January 2022.234+3 This rise was due to the loss of 33,000 jobs, primarily in full-time positions

No cure for stupid

Voters want more pain

Canada is now the car theft capital of the world

Winning.

Not anymore. As the Trudeau government was sinking, it was forced to introduce new measures and there have been  enforcement efforts since then. It still needs improvement, but they are working on it. The cars get stolen and are then  shipped to Beirut, Dubai and Africa. Highest rate of thefts is now in Alberta, the law and order province.  🫠

It doesn't say anything about not being the car theft capital only that it's down.

Which isn't saying much as a car is stolen in canada every 5 minutes or so.

Do you know why Alberta has the problem ?

I don't think there is much to celebrate. The polls were once again proven wrong because they were indicating a Liberal majority and what we see is a MINORITY government. The liberals may cut a deal with the remnants of the NDP to get legislation passed..

The good news is now that Poilievre lost his seat, maybe the Conservatives can work with the liberals on important legislation.

One thing it does say is that no one likes  Poilievre. He was a professional politician, never having worked outside of politics and here he was   always   harping on  the political machines etc. He  did not get any support from provincial conservative governments who lined up with Carney. At least Carney knows finance and economics.

The conclusions were based upon data for the 2021-2022 period. The theft numbers have dropped 20%+ and are still dropping.

According to the insurance  data there were 57,359 reported car thefts in Canada in 2024. In 2023, there were 70,475. 2025 data  indicates a similar trend.

It seems that  Alberta has a problem because of the ease in which a car can be revinned. Other provinces tightened their rules. Alberta did not. Also, as a wealthier province, it has newer vehicles. Thieves like nice cars.

Both.

James Bond is not fiction.

I am sure that Ian Fleming, who wrote the 11 original James Bond books, from 1952 until his death in 1964, would be laughing at you as well.

Well done Canada! Good to know there are sensible, progressive people and their voice has been heard. It gives me faith in humanity.

As Trumpists would say, "you lost, deal with it".

And do you really think that anyone posting here on AN knows the answer to the question?

Why not telephone or email Mark Carney in Canada?

He should have a better idea than any of the posters here.
