A large-scale fire has broken out at a plastic manufacturing and paper storage facility in Phanom Sarakham district, Chachoengsao province, with emergency services still unable to bring the situation under control.

The blaze reportedly began at around 13:40 on 29 April, in a warehouse located in Ko Khanun subdistrict, near a Bangchak petrol station on Route 304, shortly before the Nanai intersection. The facility housed newly manufactured plastic containers and large quantities of paper.

Eyewitnesses described towering flames piercing through the warehouse roof, accompanied by thick, black smoke visible from a distance. The fire spread rapidly due to the highly flammable materials stored inside.

Local fire and disaster prevention units rushed to the scene and deployed multiple fire engines in an attempt to contain the blaze. However, their efforts have so far been unsuccessful, prompting requests for reinforcements from nearby districts.

A massive blaze broke out at a plastic drum washing facility in Phanom Sarakham District, Chachoengsao Province, on Tuesday afternoon, prompting a full-scale emergency response. Despite the deployment of over 20 fire engines, the fire has raged uncontrollably for hours, producing thick plumes of black smoke visible from kilometres away.

The fire began at approximately 13:40 at a warehouse near the Na Noi intersection (Base Junction) in Ko Khanun Subdistrict. The facility is used for cleaning and storing large plastic water drums, primarily 2,000-litre white and blue containers. According to reports, the flames initially ignited in Warehouse No. 1, which housed the largest drums, before rapidly spreading to the other four warehouses on the premises.

While the factory has limited storage of hazardous chemicals, the vast quantities of plastic fuelled an intense fire that has proven difficult to contain. As of 17:00 the situation remained critical, with no signs that the blaze was close to being extinguished.

Authorities from the local Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office coordinated efforts to bring the fire under control, enlisting help from surrounding municipalities. Over 20 fire engines have been deployed, but progress has been minimal. Officials have now requested the assistance of chemical foam-equipped fire trucks from Rayong Province, which are en route to the site.

Mr. Prasit Intachot, Deputy Governor of Chachoengsao, along with the district chief of Phanom Sarakham, arrived at the scene around 14:50 to oversee firefighting operations. Fire crews have attempted to suppress the flames by spraying water from outside the factory’s perimeter fence, due to the risk of direct entry.

Fortunately, the plant is located in a relatively isolated area, with only sparse residential presence within a one-kilometre radius. .

Emergency services continue their battle to contain the fire, while environmental and health authorities monitor air quality in the surrounding area.
