In a gesture honouring Filipino workers, the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3), Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1), and Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) in Metro Manila will provide free rides from April 30 to May 3, as announced by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on April 29.

The President's directive underscores the administration's recognition of the vital contributions and sacrifices made by workers to the country's economy and society. In a video message, President Marcos stated, "I would like to announce to all our commuters that in order to give a little recognition to our workers this Labor Day celebration, I directed the MRT-3, LRT-1, and LRT-2 to offer free rides."

This initiative aims not only to alleviate the transportation costs for commuters during the Labor Day period but also to symbolically acknowledge the essential role workers play in driving the nation's progress. "As a token of appreciation for the sacrifices and contributions of our workers, not just to our economy but to our society, we are providing this small gesture," Marcos added, extending his well-wishes for a Happy Labor Day.

By offering complimentary rides over these four days, the government seeks to make the Labor Day celebrations more meaningful and accessible to all, reflecting the state's commitment to supporting and valuing its workforce.
