A Hungarian tourist was injured in an altercation near Pattaya Beach after allegedly refusing to pay for drinks, cannabis, and entertainment provided by a transgender companion. The incident occurred at 00:15 on 30 April, near Soi Pattaya Beach 12, in the Nong Prue sub-district of Bang Lamung, Chonburi province. Police Lieutenant Chaowalit Suwanmanee, deputy inspector of Pattaya City Police Station, responded to the call along with officers from the Tourist Police and volunteers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Foundation. At the scene, the 53-year-old Hungarian man, name not disclosed, was found with a laceration on the left side of his head and ear, bleeding heavily. Rescue personnel administered first aid before transporting him to a nearby hospital. The suspected assailants had fled the scene prior to the arrival of authorities. Staff from the cannabis and cocktail shop where the incident occurred presented a drink bill totalling 1,570 baht as evidence and expressed frustration with the tourist’s behaviour. According to witnesses, the man had consumed both cannabis and alcoholic beverages at the venue before inviting a transgender woman from the beach to join him. However, when the venue closed, the tourist was allegedly unable or unwilling to pay either the bill or the entertainment fee owed to the companion. This led to a heated dispute. The companion reportedly called in friends to help resolve the situation, which quickly escalated into physical violence. Staff at the venue intervened to break up the altercation, preventing more serious injuries. Following treatment, the Hungarian man will be taken in for questioning by Pattaya police. He claimed he intended to pay the bill but was unable to do so due to a problem with his mobile phone. If he chooses to press charges regarding the assault, investigators will attempt to identify and locate the perpetrators for legal action. Adapted by Asean Now from SiamChon 2025-04-30. 3 1 21
Popular Post spidermike007 Posted April 29 Popular Post Posted April 29 This story does not make any sense, how would you go out without some cash knowing that you were going to be engaging in some form of paid companionship? I don't know of too many ladies (or men) of the night who accept payment by bank scan. 6 2 5 9 1 10

I suspect not..... yes many bars and shops and a few noodle sellers have the scan and pay, but being out without any cash makes no sense. 4 17 1

I don't want to pick up an interweb social disease. 7

That would count probably for half of the party people still around after 4am. Not an excuse imho. If you can't hold your liquor, stick to water. 4
Sydebolle Posted April 30 Posted April 30 To solve the problem - a few questions and suggestions: a) tattoo every Farang with a QR code allowing automatic debit of whatever the Thai host fits suit b) why not call the police before hacking down the culprit (who is at fault) as there is no law in Thailand allowing physical gender, race or ethnic bashing (unless I missed something here) c) why do Thai "hosts" keep on serving alcohol and other incapacitating intakes well knowing, that the customer is beyond an acceptable limit? Is it greed, more greed or only greed? d) in case of doubt ask for pre-payment like those charge cards at food courts? Once the cash is used up - fill up further or leave 5 1

He was asking for problems and the bar's staff helped him.🤩 Could be painful to learn the lessons I suppose. 1

(By that I mean non physical cash). Not saying that this was the case with the Hungarian guy, but there are also 'depth-charges', what my old Royal Navy friend used to call it. They're dropping extra bills in your check bin when you're not looking. I now use plastic for everything in the UK, but it would still be cash only in Thailand. 1 2

Cash only here unless it's something big at a reputable store and still like my cash in the UK too. Perhaps someone can enlighten me here but I thought the Thai payment QR codes only work with for those with Thai bank accounts? 1

NO need for cash.🤣

Perhaps someone can enlighten me here but I thought the Thai payment QR codes only work with for those with Thai bank accounts? A few times I bought expensive 100k+ Baht airline tickets, and because of the 2 or 3% charge for using plastic I used to pop down to Bangkok Bank and get the cash instead. I once did that for 3% on a 140k Baht ticket. (A 30 minute walk to the bank & back saved me almost US$150 in charges.) I don't think that they can charge you for using plastic in the UK, the bank or the merchant has to 'suck-up' that cost.

Not allowed to charge in the UK to the best of my knowledge too but once cash is completely gone, you're at the mercy of the banks and they could start charging for every transaction like they did back in the 70s/80s/90s. Hence why I was always try to keep cash alive. 2 1 1

Thai QR code cannot be used by my overseas bank apps. All 4 of them. It said Thai QR code is not recognized by bank apps scanner so I guess each country’s bank app for QR code payment is localized only. 1

FruitPudding Posted April 30 Posted April 30 What was he supposed to pay the ladyboy for? Sitting with him? I wonder if there was a problem with the bill amount? 🤔 That would be typical of Pattaya. Literally, everyone (except elderly or homeless) has a smartphone and banking app nowadays. How else do they pay for their Grabs and such? 3

mancub Posted April 30 Posted April 30 Appears to have been "stillettoed" outside a bank of ATM's ! Maybe the weed/alcohol slowed his brain function down thst he kept getting timed out ...... 1

Just like the days when I lived up north in rural Thailand. At the local market, cash was king which was thrown into a cardboard box - no apps on smartphones! 2
