Shirtless Tourist Sparks Outrage at Thai Restaurant
A Chinese tourist caused public outrage in Prachin Buri after dancing shirtless, coughing up phlegm, and throwing money over fellow diners. Captured on video, the incident drew widespread criticism online for its disrespectfulness. Though police issued a warning, no arrest was made, reigniting debate over leniency toward unruly tourist behaviour in Thailand.

IF he's spitting on someone - thats Assault and victims can file assault charges...    I don't see how the police can ignore that.

They (teh BiB) are clearly lazy in not pushing this further, shirtless is one thing and perhaps only warranting of a warning, but as soon as the idiot started spitting (throwing up phlegm) onto people below, that line as crossed into assault - there is not way anything other than an arrest and charges should following.

This headline is somewhat understated... Its not  "Shirtless Tourist Sparks Outrage at Thai Restaurant"...  the spitting aspect is the most disgusting and extreme...

... "In Yuan Face: Tourist Tosses Money, Spits, and Strips upsetting restaurant goers"

It´s easy for me to see. You ignore everything that have importance as long as you can create your word-salad

'Word salad'...   Thats far too creative a term for you...  ease off the plagiarism and use your own words...  keep it to single syllables, then we'll know its you !!!

People from China in general lack basic manners.  Why is that?

Out of some reason it´s in their culture and heritage. But, that to expect from a totally isolated country for the general population, which only steer the citizens in one single direction and suppress free speech and thinking as well as forbid evolution among people.

No, it's not in their "culture and heritage". I just dated a Chinese girl and she was very well mannerd.

The issue is just that China is a country with over 1.4 billion people. So just on sheer odds you will have a large number of rude people. Then factor in that a large proportion of those people live in extreme poverty and degraded living conditions on a daily basis and you have an explanation for bad manners. Even when they get catapulted overnight into middle class status by getting a job at a factory it doesn't change their bad manners.

Though economically many Chinese have made the transitiion to middle class, at least by Chinese standards, they have not made the transition to middle class in terms of manners.

The very wealthy Chinese who grew up in a privileged environment have fairly good manners.

I have dated women from several Asian and Latin American countries.

One thing that definitely sets Chinese women apart, they will hawk a loogie like a lumberjack in front of anyone.

No one else seems to do this.

If I see this in a restaurant, I would be side eyeing the guy. I wouldn't book a table opposite him, however 'outrage' is a strong word I reserve for more serious incidents. What using such language does is minimize actual serious incident s that deserve outrage.

So I'm defending these mofos. Tonight I go to a Hong Kong restaurant. There's an older Chinese couple  at a table in front of me. They decided to bring their dog into the restaurant. Not just that, but the guy starts feeding the dog WITH THE FORK HE WAS USING TO EAT. And after the dog takes the food, he just continues eating with THE SAME FORK. as if that's normal behaviour.

Forget what I said. These Chinese are animals.

That's not really true, plenty of Europeans and US Americans lack basic manners, politeness, and common sense.

He's just looking for an excuse to make it OK for an Asian to act this way but really bad when a Westerner does the same.

The CCP in 75 years killed off all Chinese culture, traditions and manners. Spitting constantly and men showing off their naked pork bellies is 'normal' in mainland China, and doesn't raise even one eyebrow. I noticed that the mainland Chinese also behave exactly like this anywhere abroad... Perhaps they feel too welcome in Thailand with red carpets being rolled out for them as preferred tourists...

Outrageous behaviour is more common among (but not limited) to older and middle-aged Chinese, who grew up during, or just after the Cultural Revolution... May I presume that the girl you dated is younger than, say 45?

Guess so. Error when using the Quote function, perhaps... 😳

Yes, she was young 23.

She did not behave like the two old animals I saw at the restaurant today.

Dear  dowager great aunties,  please let go of the pearls, as you will pass out.

The man may be low class and annoying, but he is neither a criminal nor worth police intervention.

The culprit is the venue management which did not intervene. Any decent restaurant or nightclub will quickly remove the patron who misbehaves. It looks like he was a big spender and the   restaurant management may have preferred his money over maintaining decorum. Yes, he is a  fool, but hold the restaurant responsible too for not  intervening.

And  yes, these things happen regularly and have been going on for  50+ years.. In some nightclubs in the backrooms there are some nasty fights with serious injuries inflicted. They don't make the news. This idiot did.
