The international passenger terminal T2 at Da Nang International Airport spans 52,000 square meters, boasting a sleek design inspired by a seagull in flight. With an investment of around VND 3.5 trillion (US$134.6 million), the terminal began operations during the 2017 APEC Summit Week and has since been recognized as Vietnam's first airport terminal to achieve the prestigious Skytrax 5-star rating for two consecutive years.

Globally, only 19 airports and 5 terminals have earned this 5-star recognition, highlighting Terminal T2’s exceptional facilities and smart services. Designed to international standards, the terminal comfortably accommodates millions of passengers annually with dedicated areas for arrivals and departures.

Terminal T2 utilizes an AI camera system for real-time passenger density monitoring, enhancing operational efficiency. The terminal achieved its Skytrax 5-star certification in 2024 and 2025, consistently improving service quality to maintain this prestigious status.

Passengers experience expedited check-in with self-service kiosks where they can select airline preferences, process passports or booking codes, and receive printed boarding passes within 5-10 minutes. The Passenger Assistance Team (PAT) provides guidance at these counters to ensure smooth operations.

Additionally, a self-bag drop service complements the automated check-in processe, allowing passengers to attach baggage tags and place luggage on conveyor belts leading directly to security checkpoints and subsequent aircraft loading. This service is currently available for select airlines, who advised passengers to verify eligibility in advance.

Plans for terminal expansion aim to balance traditional check-in desks with automated systems, further streamlining operations. Recent implementations include automatic control and boarding gates, refining the terminal’s efficiency from check-in through to boarding.

Terminal T2's CIP Orchid Lounge, accessible post-security, remains open 24/7. It offers amenities such as Wi-Fi, refreshments, workstations, and relaxation facilities like iMacs, iPads, sleeping boxes, and massage chairs. Updated flight information is continuously displayed.

To enhance passenger comfort, the terminal includes expanded waiting and relaxation areas with features such as a dedicated children’s play zone. Facilities for traveling families include breastfeeding areas and readily accessible strollers for kids, designed for multi-use during dining or rest.

The prayer room at T2 serves passengers observing religious practices, notably attracting those from countries with significant Muslim populations. It includes amenities like a foot-washing area and individual bathrooms, enhancing spiritual comfort and privacy.

Cultural enrichment is also a terminal hallmark, with displays of Hoi An lanterns and celebrations of Vietnamese heritage through nightly "Heritage Road" cultural programs, creating an immersive and uniquely Vietnamese travel experience.

Information screens throughout Terminal T2 assist passengers in various languages, doubling as a feedback channel for continual service improvement. Enhanced by green spaces and nature-inspired aesthetics both inside and out, the terminal not only offers a performance-oriented environment but also a tranquil and enjoyable travel experience.

The ride-hailing pick-up zone in front of the arrival hall is organized for easy access, with numbered points to reduce congestion and enhance security, rounding out the comprehensive passenger experience at Terminal T2.
