Why do Thais use English words for opposite meanings?

Hardly ever read "thick".

"Chubby" is the word.

Some are direct enough to write "fat" (from about 80 kilo up).

The number one misuse in my opinion is "girl" for every female regardless of age.

Soi Yamato drinkers of a certain age will remember Chubby.

Back on topic Thais tend to confuse ask and tell.

why do brits and Aussies call a male friend a "mate" - when they don't 'mate' with them?    It's not just Thai usage of words - - English is used differently amongst English speaking people.
