The High Cost of Breathing

Everybody seems to be missing the key point. Breathing used to be free.

Judging by the amount of oxygen thieves on this forum alone I don't think that's been the case for a long time.

You pay 800 Baht for a restaurant meal for one - I can live for a week on that (alcohol excluded)   😁

Some are ridiculing such a device because it looks stupid - I bet the fat belly of  those who pass judgement looks worse !!!! It’s not as if these items are being worn around shopping malls & in restaurants!

Why would you assume we're all overweight and unfit?

All the people I interact with are extremely fit cycling 25km a day or more.

Looking at lower Sukhumvit, most farang I see on lower Ratchada 40+ are unfit. So many health problems and then they bring their dietary addictions... Nearly all the women farang I see are well overweight also and pretty much everyone I'd worked with despite none having kids.

I don't mix with farang, 100% non whites in my circle of associates.

Thanks for sharing, but how is that relevant?

I didn't say I mix with them, but these kwai exist. I don't live on BTS line, don't even eat western food much if at all. Central BKK... unless I go to a mall near Sukhumvit I rarely see farang here.  Just as well tbh. 👍👍👍

I'm beginning to sense the feeling might be mutual. For those of us who have been here for a while (long time) and have traveled around a bit in areas not teeming with foreigners, we've all met the three types you eventually will meet.

1. The type that ignores you. Not because they don't want to meet other foreigners but because what's the big deal. You're a farang, he's a farang. Great, your both foreigners in Thailand - bring out the marching band! They're my favorite type and luckily the most numerous.

2. The type that wants to talk - really, really talk. Like meeting you somewhere in a Macro in Nakhon Nowhere is the greatest thing ever. There are quite a few of those.

3. The "deer caught in the headlight" type. Once this dude (invariably it's a dude) spots you it's like they're getting tasered and they head for the nearest exit. Extreme introvert, wanted criminal, just plain weird, who knows.

Which one would you be?

I thought you mixed with Brits

Who wants to live like that? Are you licking up ants from the floor for the protein?

Good money saving idea

Nope...  and based on your response I'd also assume that 'some' have poor reading comprehension !!

<<Some are ridiculing such a device because it looks stupid>>

Now... if you were to open your mind and not get locked into doubling down on your opinion to save face you may understand the points being made to support such a product....    It'd even make a difference for you when cycling.

A lot of you quoting basic physics in lieu of simple biology when it’s clear you know nothing of either !!!

one sure thing about the forum here, one doesn't need any credentials to be an expert at anything especially opinions.

And opinions are usually subjective and bias. Not even ability to recognize it or ignore within themselves.

Posters blather on about their experiences in home countries which if outside home countries they very well might have different opinion. Yet, they wax on as if their experience has some relation to expats abroad. Really should just disappear to reddit where they belong. The amount of trolls allowed to exist here is truly astonishing

I used to use something similar when running for extra air. Worked for me.

Many athletes used adhesive nasal strips for the same reason.

But, as long as folks recognize where the comments are coming from, it does prove interesting at times.  Plus I do notice that some people here do know what they are talking about acurately IMHO anyway.

But at least they are here. Opinions of others outside are meaningless on a Thai / Asian board.
