With all the negative international media reports of Thailand's failures, many Chinese are staying away.   Spend money on fixing the "problems" in Thailand, then the tourists will return.

These Thai leaders have got to be the biggest crooks in the world sadly their own people don't see it!  Asking for billions after billions to a specific group. If this money for tourist was spent on t

That must be a cushy job - oh we can’t attract the tourists with all the insane rules- give us 3.5 billion- we’ll sort it out- honestly! 555

Until they get Thailand back to its former glory it’s a waste of money, especially on the Chinese. Fix the infrastructure, sidewalks, police patrols, traffic, 10x up pricing for foreigners, hanging wires and the mess. Clean up the beaches every morning. So much they need to do here before they spend that kind of money getting people here only to be disappointed. Thailand has lost its way and the other countries are finding theirs. Maybe TAT need to take a flight to Vietnam or Malaysia and see why they are getting the tourists. Yes money is a big factor with the inflated Baht, but they also should have learnt from their past mistakes not to put all their eggs in one basket. When they go, and they are, then this is what happens.

Yes if the mayor of Pattaya visited Danang and looked at the city especially the promenade area. It would blow his mind. It's been thought out. Wider streets less traffic lights very little congestion. It all makes a nicer experience. Then I never saw drunken tourists, fights or anything. Just more pleasant. Shame there's no retirement visa at this moment.

I remember reading recently that despite tourists numbers being down and specifically Chinese, revenue per tourist was actually up which is what I have always maintained, that the majority of Chinese tourists spend very little in Thailand and a percentage of what they do spend ends up with Chinese owned business's in Thailand or prepaid back in China which basically means that the lions share of their trip expense ends up in China.

Right now the Chinese economy is struggling and people dont have the money so why waste time and money targeting china?? That money should be spent on domestic infrastructure starting by upgrading ammenities in tourist areas so when tourist do come they can be internationally catered for. Right now the foot paths are a disgrace, public toilets rare and disgusting, you rarely see garbage bins, addressing the maize of spaghetti being the overhead wires for electricity and communication which are an absolute eyesore, road safety for drivers targeting tour operators and a push for the entire country to improve their communication skills, especially in English due to it being the most widely spoken language.

Given Thailands reputation we all know that a large percentage of the 3.5 billion will end up in the fat cats pockets and in reality little will get spent on actually promoting Thailand, SADLY ITS ENDEMIC!!
