Popular Post webfact Posted Monday at 09:19 PM Popular Post Posted Monday at 09:19 PM Picture courtesy of Thai Rath The Thai Meteorological Department has firmly dismissed rumours circulating online about an impending tropical storm dubbed "Hoy Mee" set to strike Thailand. Issued on May 12, the department clarified there's no storm predicted to impact Thailand between May 9-13, countering viral misinformation. The Anti-Fake News Centre of Thailand has also addressed the fake "Hoy Mee" storm alert, emphasising reliance on official sources for accurate weather updates. Despite these online rumours, only typical summer storms with occasional thunder, strong gusts, and rare hail are expected in certain regions over the coming days. Public officials urge Thai citizens to refrain from sharing unverified news, promoting awareness of official communication from the Thai Meteorological Department as the sole reliable source for weather updates. This directive aims to curb misinformation and ensure public safety by reinforcing the importance of trusting credible news channels. Adapted by ASEAN Now from Thai Newsroom 2025-05-13 5

ronster Posted Tuesday at 06:18 AM Posted Tuesday at 06:18 AM Must be using the app Clime that I look at as well as others . It is constantly predicting torrential rain for days and hours and seems correct about 5% of the time . Rest of time not even remotely close. 1 1

Lost count of the number of daily reports of thunderstorms developing/clearing we've had, in Hua Hin, in the last month... We've only had 1 1

NedR69 Posted Tuesday at 01:49 PM Posted Tuesday at 01:49 PM Separate, but related question/comment: What is a good internet site for weather radar in Thailand. I cannot find anything that is similar to an active Doppler weather radar with live feed. Anyone using a station’s weather site for reliable real time radar and weather? Thanks in advance.

If you refer to the “hurricane “in UK in 1987 then Michael Fish was factually correct that there was no hurricane on the way. In fact, there were gusts of wind up to hurricane speed but for classification as a hurricane wind speeds need to be constant. Ok, I’ll get me coat. 1
