Taking a shot of EVOO per day

Taking a shot of EVOO per day

tried a daily shot of olive oil for days to see if it really could improve my gut health

Swapping pricey supplements for a simple spoonful of extra virgin olive oil is the latest gut health trend going viral. Promising better digestion, clearer skin and reduced inflammation, it sounds too good to be true – so put it to the test

Drink water (or milk) kefir to improve you gut health.  It's almost the only water I drink at home.

Don't know why anyone would think 1 shot (28 gr) of EVOO would improve one's gut health.  Good if trying to gain weight, having 248 calories, 36% of your sat. fat, and 19% of total fat for the day.

I can think of better ways to consume 248 calories; 100gr / 3.5oz of beef tenderloin for one.

I often use Evoo for cooking, alternating with lard or tallow depending upon the dish I'm cooking.

I also eat a handful of Kalamata olives EVERY DAY. Olive oil doesn't get any more virgin than that.
I eat them because I like them, and because when following a Keto Lifestyle, we need more fats and oils for energy, and olives create a lot.

To date (and I've been doing this daily for the past six years,) I have not noticed any changes in my skin, my weight has stayed at 72.5 kilo (give or take a kilo or two) for the past 6 years. (Yes, I weigh myself every Saturday morning.)
Evoo IS a very healthy fat. But it's not a miracle worker. We need a balanced diet for good health, and a spoonful of Evoo isn't going to do it. It won't hurt. Just won't help by itself.

Keep the temps low, or you defeat the purpose.

Canola fan myself, and multiple studies show it's a better, healthier choice, along with higher smoke point, if using to cook with.

We have had this debate before, personally I would never touch canola oil, It's made using hexane

A lot of studies also say Canola is not good for you

I posted a few meta analysis of studies stating the complete opposite.  I'll go with those, as current, random, not observational, with blood work #s, to back up their findings.  The numbers that I actually care about.

Canola performing as good or better than most, if not all alternative oils & fats, EVOO included.

Common sense dictates less saturated fat in your diet.   I'm a big fan of fat & protein in my diet, but try to choose wisely which I consume.

Marginal, but better.  Plus no worry about fake EVOO, or being heat sensitive when cooking.   Added plus of being a lot less expensive.
