MANILA, Philippines — Heavy rains on Tuesday afternoon led to gutter-deep flooding in several parts of Metro Manila, according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA). The affected areas, while experiencing flooding, remain passable to vehicles, though drivers are urged to exercise caution.

 

Flood Updates as of 6:45 p.m.:

 

  • Tramo Andrew southbound: Gutter-deep flooding in the outermost lane
  • España Lacson westbound: Gutter-deep flooding
  • Edsa Tramo southbound: Gutter-deep flooding in the outermost lane
  • Edsa Roxas Blvd. northbound: Gutter-deep flooding in the outermost lane
  • C3 road A. Bonifacio Ave. intersection: Gutter-deep flooding
  • Sgt. Rivera Sto. Domingo eastbound/westbound: Gutter-deep flooding
  • Edsa MRT Taft northbound: Gutter-deep flooding
  • McArthur Highway Calle Uno northbound: Gutter-deep flooding
  • España Blvd. Dela Fuente eastbound/westbound: Gutter-deep flooding

 

Impassable Area:

 

  • Quezon Ave. Biak na Bato westbound: Knee-deep flooding, not passable to light vehicles

 

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, intense to torrential rainshowers, accompanied by lightning and strong winds, are affecting areas including Metro Manila, Cavite, Bataan, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, and Batangas. These conditions are expected to persist for approximately two hours and may impact surrounding regions.

 

Residents and commuters are advised to remain updated on weather conditions and traffic advisories, and ensure safety precautions are taken when travelling in affected areas.
