An attack on a military truck from the 44th Ranger Regiment Task Force in Pattani province has left two officers injured. The incident occurred on May 13 at 1pm when unidentified assailants planted a bomb in Yaring district, targeting the patrol vehicle as it travelled along Highway 41.

The 15-kilogram explosive device was concealed in the highway median and detonated as the officers were returning to Bo Thong camp. The explosion resulted in injuries to their faces and bodies, and both officers were quickly transported to Yaring Hospital. They are reportedly suffering from hearing issues and other injuries sustained in the blast.

Simultaneously, a truck from the Special Operations Police in Su-ngai Padi district was damaged by shrapnel as it passed the same area, though no officers were harmed. The incident was immediately reported to Yaring police, prompting a swift response from local security forces.

The 44th Ranger Regiment Task Force, alongside local law enforcement, has launched an investigation into the attack. They are actively gathering evidence from the scene and remain focused on apprehending those responsible for the act of violence.

Major General Khajornsak Inthong, commander of the Pattani Task Force, has called for reinforced coordination among the military, police, and other security agencies in the southern border provinces. His directive stresses increased vigilance amid the ongoing unrest in the region.

Law enforcement continues to uphold stringent security protocols to safeguard local residents while working diligently to resolve the situation. The community remains on alert as authorities pursue leads and work to restore peace and order in Pattani.
