I have been using Wise for several years now taking only seconds for it to transfer But since last summer, it has been taking up to SIX DAYS I have asked them why and I don’t get an answer i’m transferring from the US to Thailand looking at getting a Schwab account where they reimburse you the ATM fees and you can withdraw up to $1000 per day

Imd8ta Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago I have a Bangkok bank account here. If you are in the USA there is a Bangkok Bank in New York. Send your money to Bangkok Bank in New York using your Bangkok Bank in Thailand's account number. There is no middle man as is going to Bangkok Bank directly and you'll have it the next day. A been doing this for 10 years
Imd8ta Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago It's also a domestic transfer not an international one so it will cost you a lot less money

I've used Wise to transfer money TO Thailand (from UK and Hong Kong), but I don't think it lets you transfer FROM Thailand. As everyone else is saying... Small amounts, you use Wise as it's costs are based on the amount being transferred. For large amounts (somewhere north of $10K) it can be worth checking if Swift is cheaper, but you have to make 100% sure your home country bank doesn't do the FX conversion to Thai Baht. One thing, if you're transferring money to buy property, I think you have to use Swift, AND it has to enter Thailand in the foreign currency. Because you need the bank to sign off that the money was transferred from abroad. 1
DaveBart Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago I just used wise yesterday, transferred £800 from HSBC in England to Bangkok bank, they charged £8 and it took only a couple of hours 1
KannikaP Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago 17 hours ago, problemfarang said: thank you wise is downloaded.. it seems i cannot link my thai bank or any other bank but only american bank thats why i think its american thing. but seems i can send money via using debit or credit card (because cannot link my thai bank account) to a thai account.. is it true? also it seems i can deposit some money into wise and send it.. You must deposit money into one of your WISE accounts, GBP, USD, EUR, AED, THB, before you can send it. Transfer can be via Credit, Debit card or Bank Transfer. Been using it for many years with no problems at all. 1
harryviking Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago I go online to my bank here in Scandinavia, transfere to an account in Thailand and money is in my account the next day! Just make sure you transfere eraly in the day. If late it might take 2 days.

Select Buying Property or Long Time Stay in Thailand, and it should arrive same day if initiated before 6amm Thai time, or next day at 14.03 otherwise. Always says International Transfer (FTT) on my Bank Book and Statement.

You will end up losing every time. Minimum 1k usd. Anyway, if you transfer low amounts, WISE will be your best option for both sender and receiver. If sender pays, WU will also be a good option for you.

The US government can go this route for SS and governmental pensions. I know longer can go this route so I just do a once a year large transfer from my bank via swift.
Regyai Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago 19 hours ago, CanadaSam said: Wise is not restricted to US bank accounts. You can open a Wise account in many currencies, and many countries. And it is 95% within seconds. Normal swift bank accounts take a couple days. Forget about Western Union, IMHO they are crooks. Huge fees for both parties, and also terrible exchange rates, much time wasted at WU counters to collect funds, etc. etc. WU cash pick-ups yes indeed, usurious outdated nonsense. WU direct to bank account not so bad and actually one of the few painless ways of sending money out of Thailand
nglodnig Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago 21 hours ago, problemfarang said: like almost half of the money gone It's not a US account but normally there is a flat fee (approx twenty dollars at least that's what I pay) regardless of the amount sent. So the more sent the cheaper it works out. Did you send ten dollars? 2
norsurin Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I transfer from my creditcard directly to my kaikorn account.Takes only seconds everytime.I use my wise account. I have 3 cards from Wise and use that sometime

Is there a reason you don't fund your transfers using a cheaper method? Example shown is for £1,000 GBP.

WDSmart Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago That all depends on what you mean by "best way." Is it the fastest, cheapest, most reliable, or the ones accepted by Thai Immigration? I use an international wire transfer to transfer money from the USA (Bank of America) to my bank in Thailand (Krungsri). It's more expensive than most ($40) but very fast (next day), and Thai Immigration considers it an acceptable deposit.

Do you need to make any prior arrangements, or do you just send the money and it magically appears in Thailand? Also, how exactly do you "send" it? Their website says they don't accept ACH transfers, only "international ACH" transfers, but I have not found a way to do that from my US-based credit union.

It's not just for USA use. Wise is registered in the UK. As far as I know, the only outfit that matches Wise for [insert favourite government-issued toilet paper name here] to THB is Revolut. Getting THB out of the Thai banking system as efficiently is another matter (for example, Wise won't let you do this). I can feel a new thread coming on...
Geordieabroad Posted 45 minutes ago Posted 45 minutes ago WISE is actually a British based company although it is available worldwide. I transfer regularly from my UK WISE account to Kasikorn. The transfer fee is always 0.6% of the transfer amount and the transfer takes roughly 10 seconds. Been using WISE for about 7 years and never had any problems
orchidfan Posted 36 minutes ago Posted 36 minutes ago I have recently (this week) used WISE to transfer AUD, which I first deposit into my Wise AUD account. In the past, over dozens of transfers. it took seconds to be in my THB, Bangkok Bank account. BUT, this week, without explanation,it is taking until 2..13pm (exactly each time) the next day to arrive!! WEIRD. Have always used "Personal Expenses " as the reason. So something has happened at the thai end, I'm assuming . No changes to accounts, banks or reasons whatsoever So, for me anyway, the 1 minute transfers seem to have stopped !

shocky2012 Posted 11 minutes ago Posted 11 minutes ago Remitely. I use that to send from my credit card to my Thai bank. Takes like 1 minute and you receive it instantly. Wise is good too but there is delay sometimes.
