The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) announced that starting May 15, government workers in the Philippines, including military and uniformed personnel, will receive their midyear bonuses. These bonuses are equivalent to one month’s basic pay.

In the 2025 budget, a substantial P63.69 billion has been allocated for these bonuses, with P16.108 billion earmarked specifically for military and uniformed personnel. The DBM ensured that agencies received the necessary funds as early as January, prompting agencies and local government units to dispense the bonuses promptly.

Eligibility for the midyear bonus is detailed in the DBM Budget Circular 2017-2, requiring government workers to have completed at least four months of service from July 1 of the previous year to May 15 of the current year. Additionally, they must have achieved satisfactory performance ratings during the appraisal periods.

The bonus distribution extends across all branches of government, including executive, legislative, and judicial branches, as well as constitutional commissions, state universities, colleges, and government-owned or -controlled corporations under the compensation and position classification system. Local government units are also included.

Eligible military and uniformed personnel comprise various services, such as the Armed Forces of the Philippines under the Department of National Defense, Philippine National Police, and other uniformed agencies of the Department of Interior and Local Government, among others.

DBM Secretary Pangandaman advised recipients to manage their bonuses wisely, emphasizing the importance of responsible financial planning.
