It is part of a Wokism wave.  I watch a lot of TV and it is a rare thing to see a heterosexual white couple.  Lots of Crime series starring female leads taking down the bad guys with force.  Macho men are few and far between.

Yes, I don't mind seeing the odd gay couple in movies and TV shows, but it seems to be the "law" these days that there 'has to be' at least one gay, AND one lesbian couple in each and every TV series, incl. historical dramas, House of the Dragon, etc., etc.
