A Vietnamese immigration officer has been suspended following an incident at Phu Quoc International Airport where he tore up a Taiwanese tourist's flight ticket, sparking widespread outrage on social media. The Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security announced the disciplinary action, citing the officer's "inappropriate attitude" towards the tourists.

The incident occurred on May 13 when a Taiwanese family of four was at the airport preparing to board their flight home. Faced with two unwell children each requiring individual attention, the parents requested to complete immigration procedures separately. However, the officer rejected their request and instructed them to wait aside.

Seeking clarification on when they could proceed, the family was met with an unexpected reaction. The officer grabbed the mother's flight ticket and tore it apart, while publicly admonishing the family. This distressing episode led the tourist to share her ordeal online, where it rapidly gained attention and criticism from social media users.

In response to the public outcry, the officer has been suspended, and the tourist's flight ticket was reprinted. This incident highlights the importance of respectful and efficient service in immigration processes, especially when dealing with international tourists and their unique circumstances. The Vietnamese authorities' swift response underscores their commitment to maintaining a welcoming environment for visitors.
