A distressing case has emerged from Hua Hin involving a 13-year-old girl who revealed she was coerced into sex work at age 11 by her mother and aunt. The two women allegedly sold her to a 50-year-old man for drug money and to settle loan shark debts.

The case surfaced when the girl confided in her father and stepmother in late April. Her father subsequently reached out to the Pavena Foundation for Children and Women to initiate legal and protective measures.

According to the father, he was separated from the girl's mother, with whom he never legally married, and was often denied access to his daughters, aged 13 and 8. The situation escalated when the daughter expressed a desire to leave her mother's and grandmother's home due to ongoing abuse.

Upon collecting his daughter in Hua Hin, the father reported the matter to the local police and notified the mother about relocating the child to Phuket. Initially resistant, the mother conceded after the girl disclosed her forced prostitution over a phone call.

The horrific details uncovered included the mother and aunt taking the child to a short-stay hotel twice when she was just 11. The first occurrence happened in August 2023, when the aunt took her to meet the man before escorting her to a hotel. After being assaulted, she returned home in pain, only for her mother to dismiss her symptoms as menstruation.

In a second attempt two months later, the girl resisted being taken by the same man, who then returned her to a park where her mother was waiting. The man instructed the mother not to bring her again, leading to a verbal altercation.

The girl reported her mother’s methamphetamine addiction and described how she was used for drug pickups to avoid police detection. The mother's financial struggles included significant informal debts demanding daily payments.

On April 30, the Pavena Foundation brought the case to Pol Col Kampanat Na Wichai of Hua Hin police station, prompting a full investigation. The girl received medical evaluation and was interviewed by specialists. She and her sister are currently under the foundation's care.

On May 19, police issued arrest warrants for the mother and aunt, charging them with human trafficking and encouraging a child under 15 into sexual exploitation. The mother was detained the same day, with a subsequent drug test confirming methamphetamine use, resulting in added charges.

During questioning, the mother confessed to arranging three encounters, one in a public park and two at hotels, receiving between 1,500 and 5,000 baht. The aunt reportedly kept all the money, and the mother is now in custody.

Authorities are continuing their efforts to locate the aunt and identify the man involved in purchasing sex with the child, ensuring all responsible parties face legal consequences.
