I think the doubt exists because it is a motorbike with a sidecar. Grey are as to whether it’s a “motorbike” or a three wheeled vehicle. 
 

it certainly looks dangerous given the lack of access to a rear brake, but I’m not sure if the law says that a three wheeled vehicle has to have a rear brake.

Not only Thailand but in Australia saw a guy transporting a mattress on the roof of his car with his mate in the passenger seat. The driver had one hand on the steering wheel and the other holding down the mattress, his mate was holding down the other side. This happened on the freeway in a 80kph zone and they were only travelling 40kph.....nuts

Utterly classic photo. Zero regard for safety. Better to risk one's life and limb, than spend 300 baht hiring someone with a pickup truck. Yet the same man will think nothing of spending that 300 baht on some durian. 

 

I remind myself almost every day that the incomprehensibility of this place, is a big part of what attracts me to it.

You see, safety concerns suggest throwing money at the situation is the way forward. The durian remark is just another petty dig.

How about this Sunshine coast woman in Queensland yesterday in the process of being fined $376 for carrying her sad dog in a harness on her motorbike? And wasnt for lack of doggy helmet. It was so enjoying the ride just seconds beforehand.

No it wasnt a motorcycle but a 3 wheeled SAMLOR (see video) so was a lot safer than led to believe.
