The gall of this guy ! Thaksin has yet to be called to account for the thousands of people killed in his 'war on drugs' during his tenure as PM, the majority of whom were entirely innocent.

I knew that the extra judicial killings in Thaksin’s first government would prompt the haters to point at Mr T.

Pity they don’t acknowledge that Mr T was spoken to by one who cannot be named and told that “something must be done “.

Rock and a hard place.

What a joke! Thaksin enriched himself through drug trafficking in the early 2000s. He gunned down all the competition, regardless of whether women or children were among them.

He's well experienced to address this issue and fully understands his easy fix, just eliminate them on the spot, done and dusted.

The problem with that strategy is that the some in the military and the police allegedly used the suppression activity to eliminate political "rivals" and advocates of social reform. In other cases, innocent people were killed.

Nonsense. There is no evidence to support your claim.  He did not gun down anyone. The   drug cartels had taken control of parts of the country and had corrupted local officials including the police. It was a bonafide  insurrection funded by the  drug syndicates. It was similar to what was seen in Columbia and Mexico. The  military  was heavy handed, but this was a  do or die  situation. The failure was on the part of the military to  oversee and manage the  operation  effectively. Thaksin had to work with  what he had, and unfortunately, the  Thai military of that era was not well trained in fighting narco terrorists.
