Crime Swiss National 'David' Sentenced to Jail for Assaulting Thai Doctor in Phuket

The case was a no-brainer. HOw the foreigner avoided a guilty charge in the first court is beyond me however, I suspect influence was used there. 

I am also curious, does he get kicked out of Thailand and visa revoked and black-listed?

The Fehr incident also raised concerns over encroachment on public land. Investigators found that the steps leading down to the beach were not part of the villa property and had been built illegally. They were later demolished.

Local residents subsequently called for authorities to do more to return public access to beaches on the resort island.

Not defending him in any kind of way, but you should not post things you have no clue about, and at the same time call out others for being crazy. Take a good look in the mirror.

I followed this case as it developed almost a year ago. You just want a discussion don't you? He rented this villa for 1 million a month... nuff said

I have no sympathy for Urs 'David' Fehr or what he have done. But if a Thai had done the same to a foreigner, the punishment would have been a slap on the wrist, or in worst case a 500 Baht fine with no jail time served. It seems like the Thai judicial system likes to punish foreigners for things, that a Thai citizen would easily get away with. In my humble opinion, such two tier behaviour will make many foreigners consider one extra time, before travelling to Thailand to spend their money.

These are the infamous steps? In my mind I imagined some tiny narrow steps that were completely blocked by the Thai and hence the anger shown by the Swiss guy. Even though they are on public land how on Earth could the Swiss bully have objected to somebody sitting on them.
