What you probably hear is knocking on the door. The intervention is underway.

Up to your brilliant standard of retort as per usual.

Take a stab in the dark. Looking at this graph when, using the price eggs which was the big topic, would you say Trump became POTUS?

So it's actually not cheap, in particular if you select a longer period (5 years). It's actually more expensive than before the bird flu epidemic.

I'll add a humorous touch: it's more expensive than when Vance made his famous show about it, blaming Kamala Harris! 🤣

I agree that eggs are still not cheap but this doesn't alter the fact that Trump said he'd bring down the price of eggs and that's what's happened and it happened fast. Bit like he said he'd shut down the open border and he did that and once again did it fast.

Trump made this promise last year during his campaign, same as Vance. He did not bring the price of eggs down compared to the price at the time he made this promise. 🙂

Eggs are almost down to Oct 2024 levels and the trend is the price is still falling.

Oh, it'll get better.

Bigly better.

Dow futures tumble 500 points as Trump threatens new tariffs against the EU and Apple

Stock futures declined early Friday after President Donald Trump ramped up his trade fight again, slapping a tariff on Apple for foreign-made iPhones and recommending a 50% tariff on the European Union.

Mom, I wanna $3500 made-in-USA eyePhone!

Shaddup and play with your two dolls!

And the clown show continues. More flip-flops, exactly what the markets want!

Trump was already campaigning about it in August.

Having said that, if the bird flu pandemic ends, I don't see why eggs shouldn't go back to a "normal" price. The U.S. was a net exporter in 2024, so their price shouldn't be affected by tariffs (provided input costs are not affected).

Lol! Trump threatened 25% tariff on imported Iphones if Apple doesn't bring back production to the U.S. Even if it would be economically feasible, it would take years! 🤣

Yes, but think of the privilege to be able to buy a 60% Murican made Iphone XX for the low sum of 3800 $!

Why would the DOW tumble 500 points over Apple?

As it's clearly stated in NoDisplayName's post, it's also about tariffs on the EU.

You ask a lot of questions. Big tariffs on the EU and Apple is a big deal.  I guess the market thinks - who's next and what's next and is this idiot ever going to learn with all these random pronouncements.

All large US retailers are feeling the effect of tariffs.

The current administration reminds me of the bread and circuses the Romans used to have. Light on the bread, heavy on the circuses.
