In a decisive crackdown on unregistered dental operations in Saraburi province, police and public health officials dismantled two illegal practices running out of a private residence and a makeshift clinic, both operating under unsanitary conditions.

The first raid took place at the Charoen Rungroj shop, located in Thanin Village, following reports of illicit activity regarding fake teeth production. Led by Police Colonel Suriya Sudkankawan and Deputy Superintendent Police Lieutenant Colonel Sethhanan Sethapakorn, the raid involved an undercover operation where agents posed as clients seeking dental impressions.

Upon arrival, authorities encountered the shop owners, 65-year-old Rojanirin and his 52-year-old wife, Phakmalanath, neither of whom could produce the required business licences in accordance with the 1994 Health Facility Act and the 1994 Dental Profession Act. A search of the premises revealed 35 items used for crafting fake teeth. Both admitted to operating the illegal practice, leading to their arrest and the seizure of the equipment as evidence.

Later the same day, a follow-up operation targeted an illicit fashion braces clinic set up in a rental room in Moo 4, Pak Khao San subdistrict. Using another undercover agent, investigators arranged a meeting where the agent found 28-year-old Paphatsara fitting braces in an unsanitary environment. Without the necessary legal permits, she was apprehended during the operation.

Paphatsara confessed to providing fashion braces for over a year, pricing her service between 800 and 1,200 baht. Originally a package-sorting worker, she ventured into the fashion braces business to counter expensive formal dental fees, acquiring equipment online and serving acquaintances.

As the investigation unfolded, Paphatsara's mother, 52-year-old Thawi, pleaded for leniency, claiming her daughter's operation was new and informal. Nevertheless, Paphatsara was detained for further legal proceedings, with her equipment confiscated by police.

These operations highlight the risks posed by unregulated dental services, both to public health and consumer safety. Authorities stress the importance of seeking licensed medical professionals for any dental procedures, underscoring their commitment to maintaining legal and health standards within the community.

No, they highlight the risks of operating illegally.  They haven't indicated that anyone has been harmed by the illegal operators.
