I wonder what the law is concerning child abuse/ violence in Thailand ?
Does it exist ?  I  believe each classroom should have CCTV  ( that functions) , it would prove the abuse of children, and help when kids have been misbehaving badly.
This teacher should be banned from teaching and also have a jail sentence.

As an aside, Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei still have recourse to the rattan (or the cane). There is a long and interesting article  on Wikipedia here,

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caning_in_Singapore

Which goes into detail about caning as a punishment with information as to who may be caned, what offences are liable for caning, ages and physical health, the number of strokes, and much more.

Essentially only males may be caned, females are NOT caned, but face a different punishment.

I found it an interesting and informative read.

I’m sure it doesn’t include little children, not that I condone any corporal punishment at all.

I'm surprised the teacher is still walking and breathing, child abuse against someone else's child? I've seen people killed for less.

You have? Who?

Please name a few - we'd love to hear about your witnessing some murders in progress.

Did you report these murderous assaults?

If you didn't, aren't you an accessory after the crime? Is your name George Segal? Claude van Damme?

Jason Stratham or 007, by any chance?

When i was in Technical school aged 15 there was a teacher who whacked the pupils hands with a 3ft blackboard rule when he considered they had don something wrong in class.  We had a lad in our class who was 6ft 2ins and really large build for his young age, played junior rugby away from school.   He was called out to the front of the class to get a whack with this ruler one day but said no which infuriated this teacher even more so he struck the lad across the back with the ruler as he walked away.  The lad walked back and gave the teacher one punch which laid him out, to the pleasure of the whole class,  The lad had no problems with the principal but the teacher gut suspended.  Will never forget that day.

I'm sorry.  Some kids are <deleted> and need a bit of a touch up.

I know - I have a rotten step-son that would have benefitted from this. It might have stopped his first or second trip to the big house....

This again in the news, and wondering how many times it happens and not reported. As I've stated before, I had to talk to my daughter's school supervisor to have one teacher there stop hitting the students with sticks. After the second time it seems to have stopped, as my daughter said it has. In the US, you're fired and banned from teaching again, which is another thing Thailand should adopt from the west.

Teacher hits my kid, I hitting the teacher.

I remember hearing my wife's neighbor yelling and being verbally abusive to her daughter. I was like, oh, ok, this even happens here and the mother is not shy about it.

I saw someone get killed once, just a stupid argument between two bunches of friends, throat cut with machete and he died.

Ambulance comes - he's still alive apparently, dies later, guy does about 2-3 years inside - then released and walking around like nothing happened. That's in Thailand.

Now back in the UK I know some absolute moron who killed his next door neighbour - I didn't see that but heard about it and knew the guy all too well - some dick who attended the same school as me, wasn't clear why he killed his neighbour but he got caught immediately - guy always was a retard - he's where he belongs now - doing life. Should have been kept in longer on his previous sentences but the inevitable will always happen in the end with these types.

That starts with respect learned at home, and it doesn't need beatings to get a point across. Kids are going to get in trouble no matter what you might do,as it comes from having peers that are out of line who they look up to or think are cool. How many children do you see that are smoking and coming from houses where neither parents smoke?

I'm thinking that was a we all hear about them answer, as we all hear of murders happening here for very petty things, although there are witnesses to these crimes, and it could have also been him.

They do have a child protection agency here but many parents think hitting is okay here , and some have let teachers punish their children because of this, thinking if they aren't around, someone should be able to "correct" their child. It is illegal for a teacher to hit anymore, although with that mentality it doesn't stop.

Most parents were afraid to come forward..........?

When my son went to pre school teachers used wooden rulers and hit kids over the knuckles, my son got hit rarely because the teacher loved him. However this is bad from teachers and if you complain your kid won't pass exams and be made to stay back late and clean the classroom, he's at a private school now and it's still going on, some parents pay, I will say no more than it's very bad. Principles know what is going on.

Poor girl. Horrible treatment. I thought the beating of children in Thailand had been banned by law.  It brings back memories of my school days, a long time ago. We were regularly beaten, from the age of eight, with canes or, for minor offences, with slippers. I've always felt there is something seriously wrong with any teacher who inflicts such punishments.

I got the strap on the hands in middle school 2 times by the vice-principle. 1968 & 69.

1st time was for bumper sliding in the snow hanging onto the buses back bumper.

2nd time was for going on a girls school trip to the hospital to see what nurses did.

I refused this time as I thought it unfair as men could be nurses too. My Mom was a nurse at this hospital. The school phoned my Dad, who was Secretary/Treasurer of the school board, to report my refusal. The next morning my Dad took me to school to receive my punishment.

I was originally from Britain, Dad was a flight lieutenant on the Lancaster bomber before we moved to Canada in '59 when I was 4. I would get the belt on a fairly regular basis and once had a yardstick broken over my butt when I was 10. I left home at 15.

I'm not saying corporal punishment is wrong but it certainly needs to be for a damn good reason. I had a lady teacher in grade 6 & 7, Mrs. McKenzie, she would walk around the class with a thick 18" wooden ruler and rap your knuckles if they were idle.

I also had a pervert teacher, Mr. Britton, in grade 7, who also was a cub leader. I squealed on him to my Dad. It took 2 years for them to fire him. He was always touching the girls in my class and one of them was a crush of mine. I wasn't in his cub pack so I don't know if he had a thing for boys too or not. My Dad was also a Scout leader, I was in his pack.

Dad is now 96 and just moved into an old folks home, leaving my 92 year old Mom by herself in their trailer. She's almost blind and needs a stroller to walk. Somehow she doesn't  qualify for the home as well. Dad is getting senile, forgetful and can't hear.

A few years after leaving home I made up with my Dad and we were good from that day forward.

I feel for that little girl, who is much too young to be abused like that. I trust the authorities won't take 2 years to get rid of that abusing teacher. How can you possibly be that pissed at such a youngster and not be right in the head. He needs a lot of alone time in a cell to think about what he has done. Then released into the general population for his justice.

The worst I had was a teacher who would twist your ear for misbehaving. Oh and draw a circle on chalkboard and have student stand with nose in said circle. 555

For those of us expats with some dosh, why send the kid to a Gov school. There are other options for a better education.

I gave you a 'laugh 55'.

You seem to have confused 'principles' and 'principals'.

Haven't you said you were a teacher in the past?

You're absolutely right.  I taught English for 39 years.  I was so smug about my word play that I got them the wrong way round.

Re-education of the teacher is required here by way of a dam good kicking 🤔

Not really. Just sack him and ban him and ALL his family from ANY government job for life.

No compensation and no pension.

Nothing will happen.

Same as teachers cutting students hair.  Or the money boxes on teachers desks.

(Contributions expected)

(Helps the child's grades)

Or universities employing under qualified staff for lesser salaries.
