Is this how mobile banking works here? You put in the amount manually?

Can be done different ways:

1. - Shop registers the amount in their cash register machine and that amount automatically shows if the customer scans the shop QR. Customer now hits 'ENTER' and the funds transfer happens instantly if there's enough funds in the customers bank account.

- Further to 1. - above, some bank apps allow the customer to enter a new amount. Example, customer wants to add 20Baht ot whatever as a tip. Then ENTER.

- 2. - Or the shop may have it set up so the amount shows on a separate small screen and the shop assistant points this out to the customer. Customer scans the main QR code for the shop but there's no amount owing showing on the customers bank app. Customer now manually enters the amount owing and hits 'ENTER'. If there's enough funds the transfer of the funds to the shop happens instantly.

Maybe some banks have more 'systems' ...

It's often the customers using the points cards rather than paying by phone that take longer. Apart from the odd shop whose QR code takes forever to scan, paying by QR is very simple.

I never carry cash anymore but that's because I'm always losing my wallet so I don't carry one. It doesn't suit everyone but it works for me. Cardless withdrawals also appeal. The only place where I need cash to pay is 7-11 and passing them by because of this actually saves me a bit of cash each day.

Is it not just as easy to lose you phone?

The article says they originally transferred 22150 for 2 cups of coffee, which in the real world is over 22000.

Probably. Personal thing with me. Sunglasses, wallet, keys...always manage to leave them and walk off.

Phone, for some reason it is like another limb. I'm constantly aware of where it is. If it's not on me somewhere something kicks in.

But somewhere to put an expensive mobile phone. Too much hassle to slip a couple of notes in the phone case ?

Where do cyclists put their passports?
