Please let me know if you are satisfied with your electric table top oven. I plan on making my own bread and cakes and need an oven that can reach temps of 250 C or as close to it as possible. I don’t know what brands are good. I trust your personal experience over blogs.

We bought a Tefal last year,before that we had another brand but it was flimsy and did not last.

This one was a bit more expensive but we use it a lot and so far is working fine.

What is your budget? I have an Electrolux EOT70DB which I like okay and is a bit bigger than the Sharp I had before. It says it goes to 250C, but I do not think it actually does. It works fine for baking bread, cookies, cakes and making pizza and whatnot. Perfect for roasting meats and oven BBQing ribs.

I have a Smeg in my new house that claims it goes to 270C, but I have not used it yet.

I'm an Electrolux fan, unless sily priced, and doesn't need to be.   Our table top is a major upgrade of the previous non Electrolux oven, that crapped out.   230°C max temp (?), but with fans on, may even hit 250°, maybe.

 

More than enough for any baking needs, as I make my own bread, almost weekly.   Along wth Cheescake, both requiring high temps.

 

Bread on max for 13 mins, then ~175° / 180° for 15-17mins, fans off.  Cheesecake need 200°C for ~25-30 mins.

Because many use outside cooking techniques .....

Dishwashers are few also....I doubt there's any trash compactors around either.....

microwaves were invented for really busy people who didnt have more than 2 minutes to prepare a meal and frozen dinners. 

 

thais take the time to cook and don't rely on frozen dinners. until they get hitched up with a farang or they watch some american sitcom and decide to copy them i guess.

Or more usually go get it delivered in a plastic bag from the local food stand.

However, the usual Pad Thai, Pak Kapow etc only take minutes to stir fry.

When I asked my gf to do me a toast for the first time she did not know how to use a toaster.

 

Took her only one day to learn, thankfully.

What would they use it for?  I have eaten many many different Thai dishes, probably more than a hundred.  I don't think any required an oven.  For cooking fish, Thais prefer deep fried or steamed.  Some Thai recipes call for roasted shallots, onions, garlic, etc ... but those need constant tending so those are prepared over charcoal stoves.

 

The only Thai dish my wife has used an oven for was beef jerky and she just couldn't reproduce the quality we got from our favorite restaurant.  She does use our oven for many non Thai dishes.

My home is built next to my ILS, everybody uses my oven or stove, I wonder why?

Here's one I made earlier, the tin also helps,around 100bht.

I have a built-in but bought an Otto to help speed up production. (My wife makes bake goods that are sold during the holidays). I am unable to get an even result from one batch to the next. I can see where that baking tin might help with bread.

Bread needs something to keep it moist while cooking.

The tin does that with ease.

That's interesting.  All my inlaws are/were (RIP) great cooks and not one had an oven.  Even my SIL who lived in US for years didn't use one.

 

Do your inlaws cook Thai food in your oven?  Do they cook food from central Thailand?  All my relatives lived Bangkok, Ayuthya and Chachengsao were central cuisine reigns.

I'll second you on that one! I have had this same model for years and it works fine. I have used it for bread, casseroles, curries, roasts. Temperature is fine unless you jam too much junk inside then the outer case will get hotter than the inside of the oven. The only other issue is if you put in something a bit too heavy like a large Dutch oven or similar, the weight of the item can cause the shelves to bend and then collapse - so don't overload it.

Looks like a normal loaf to me.  You do see what it was cooked in.  No different than most store bought loafs.  Not my style, but certainly nothing wrong with it.

 

Also exactly what you'll get if using a bread machine, as many do.

We bought this 7 years ago after Wife took a bakery class, and have done it's job, and was rather cheap. 

 

She also makes bread in air fryer with good results. 

 

I guess it was 2k or something by then
