Anyone use a ST109 tracker?

Following "CanadianSam" suggestion got the wife to order one of those GOMO sim cards for 99฿. which arrived within a couple of days.

She went trough the registration process and got the new SIM activated , I think.

This is where it gets a bit confusing. Took the old SIM out of the tracker and replaced it with the new COMO sim. The tracker worked, but still showing the phone number of the old card even though I had taken that card out and replaced it with the new COMO.

Not sure what is happening. The tracker is working, presumably on the old phone number, did the new card take over the old number?

Anyways will wait to see what happens after some days of working. A point the wife mentioned was how to top up the COMO card once the 99฿ initial cost runs out. She says there doesn't seem to be an obvious way to that.

To answer another question.  The SinoTrack ST-901-http://www.sinotrackpro.com/ - is a one off payment to purchase, there are no more payments for the unit.

However for the tracker to work you need to insert a SIM card and that will cost depending on what provider you use.

As mentioned in my original post, initially my SIM card top up was 50฿ per month, this crept up to 50฿ per 10 days, hence all this about finding a cheaper provider and GOMO seems almost too good to be true. but will wait and see.

If you're interested in the visit the - http://www.sinotrackpro.com/ - web site for a free tour.

🙂

Not so happy unfortunately.

Tracker arrived this afternoon.  Activated sim and put in tracker.

The wiring diagram show red and black to connect to + and - on battery which I have done. Also shows other cable orange to relay and yellow to ACC. Is this necessary? Should I take to motorbike repair shop to do this?

Also confused with send SMS to tracker to set the APN.... found out what APN is. Tried sending from my phone or do I send via the Sino app........

But first I have to make sure it's connected.......

The yellow goes to accessory / ignition circuit, you don't need that connected for the tracker to actually work but it's useful for additional information.

You can connect the yellow to any thing that comes on with the ignition key. Maybe the headlight or perhaps the rear light, if it only comes on when the engine is running.

I removed some of the front faring's and connected it to the ACC on the back of the ignition switch. A bike shop could do that for you cheaply as it's not a big job.

Don't know for sure how we got the thing activated. Left that to the wife who did it with her phone, not sure if it can be activated from a PC.  If the blue and yellow LED are on it means the tracker is connected and working.

A manual should have come with the tracker, but just in case have attached PDF.

:annoyed:

Well, that's disappointing, won't let me attach a PDF file. Search YouTube plenty of advice there.

Hope this helps.

Yeah, came with instructions but the sms bit is confusing. I didn't see any LED lights so maybe not connected properly.

I will check youtube also, thanks.3

A quick update and more help required if possible from st 901 users (Daffy).

A Thai registered the sim card, I put it in the tracker and yellow led kept flashing which means no sim.

I put sim in spare phone and rang it and it rang ok so I think sim ok.

I put my sim in the tracker, rang it and it did what it should; hung up and sent me message with link to google maps and exact location (on my drive).

Put the gomo sim back in the phone, this time it accepted it and yellow led stayed on.  I rang it and it hung up but no message received with location. See note later.......

I sent the sms to the gomo humber in the tracker as directed in instructions 8030000 TRUE-H INTERNET etc then a funny thing happened. The sms were received on my old phone even though i had taken the sim out and put it in the tracker. ( lighbulb moment as I write this, maybe the number was saved to my phone and not the sim, I will check and delete from phone if so).

So to the sinotracker app, I opened it and in the middle of the screen overlaid on the map is a box with my location, speed, trip, battery level ect

so I thought all good, when I go out I will ring it again to see if it shows my new location. Did so, nothing changed, apparently my bike is still in Soi Fanny (location address absolutely true within a few metres)

So how do I look at the sinotrack app and update with current location ?

Note : I checked the terms of the Gomo sim and it doesn't provide calls or send sms, to send sms you have to buy an additional package.

So does the tracker send me sms for new location or should it just update by GPS ??

Frustrated so need help please !

Sorry to hear you're having problems.

Have to confess I only did the hardwire installation on my tracker, left the all the SIM stuff to the wife. I don't have a phone so all this "new" technology is gives me a headache so leave it all to her.

The wife is out at the moment but will try get some answers for you and post again in tomorrow.

We did not buy any additional package, just used the GOMO sim straight out of the box. Though there is the strange case that the tracker is still on the original phone number of the original SIM.!

When you first open the SinoTrack app it brings up a map. of what I presume is the SinoTrack home base. To start activating your tracker you have to click on it's ID in the window on the bottom left.

Hope this is some help, will post again tomorrow after having spoken with the wife.

OK ! so had a chat with the wife and seems she just pushed a couple of buttons, and it worked, that's all she remembers   Sorry not much help for you.

As far as I recall the tracer doesn't do text, you call it and have to enter a code number for the various functions. I didn't bother with all that just got the "Engine On" - "Speed" and "Mileage" to show.

If you really get stuck you could try SinoTrack help [email protected]  or chat to one of those pretty girls at one of the many phone shops perhaps one of those could sort out the problem for you,

Sorry for late reply, Buddha day meant visitors and travelling, just had time to open laptop now!

Your interface above is a different layout to mine on my mobile, maybe mine is a newer version as only downloaded last week.

I will try more research when I'm back home next week and using the bike again.

As I said above I was travelling in the car from Thursday to Tuesday (yesterday) so not done anything with the tracker and not used the bike.

Got on the bike yesterday afternoon, the bike is new, only done 250 kms, and the red battery warning light was on so obviously the tracker is draining it with enough power to show a warning light after only 5 days. I only did a 10 minute journey but that was sufficient to recharge the battery and extinguish the light.

I think I can solve your mystery even with my limited tracker knowledge.

I don't believe it's your phone number but the id number of the tracker.

I did read on one forum that battery drain was a problem with this tracker. Don't know if all trackers are the same, but anything permanently connected to the battery would have the same effect. Guess it's not such a problem for a car.

My bike is used practically every day and only stands sometimes a couple of days at weekend so never had this problem.

Seems like you got the tracker working,

It's definitely the phone number I was referring to, the tracker ID number is something else.

By right clicking on the location of the bike on the map it brings up a list of things going on and the two numbers are obviously different.

Anyways no worries for now, been nearly two months and the COMO sim is still working so will leave well alone for now.

No. sim doesn't respond. I ring it and it ends the call after 2 rings which it should but doesn't send a location.

I use the app on my phone, not laptop, so no right click available.  And the only number shown on the location notification is the tracker ID, it doen't show the phone number anywhere.

Only had 1 notification and that was 10 days ago when I used my own sim so I will swap them again today and try to use the Gomo sim in my phone.

GOMO Sim, anyone know how to check your usage and balance on these sims?

Or maybe I should start a new topic on Gomo sim?

There does not seem to an obvious way to check usage and balance, if there is one we have not found it.

Every day I just check we're still connected and not worry about it till one day we're not then figure out what to do. whistling

GOMO sim cards for 99฿. since June last year, I ain't complaining
