When the Thai fearless foreskin fusiliers move in this WAR will be over in no time. That is unless the Cambodians front up with their self made weapons. Then see who does a runner.

China has been supplying Cambodia over the past few years. it has also been training the Cambodian military.

The Indians got a bloody nose when they recently  attacked Pakistan and lost several aircraft to the Chinese armed and trained Pakistanis. Thailand may have a similar experience.

Thai soldiers are just like the LAPD, always trigger happy as just ask the Red shirts. But if a boarder war was ever to break out, my money will be on Cambodia as their army has been fighting since the Vietnam war. Can't say much about the Thai army.

Where this is going to?

Will they fight if the International Court decide in favour Cambodia?

Can't believe😳

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruled in favour of Cambodia in 2013, mandating that Thailand withdraw troops from disputed areas, a decision Thailand did not recognise concerning the court's jurisdiction

Isn't it up to the Thai Government to make these sort of policy statements? Anyone would think it was the military that has the biggest say in running the country rather than the elected government

I just saw four American B-2 bombers, 1000 American special forces, and Rambo getting ready.

In America, we call this PP.   Protect Pattaya.   Cambodia better have Chuck Norris.

I think that the family of the Thai PM are jealous of the monstrous publicity given to the war-triggering Putin and Netanyahu and that they would like to appear in the international press in turn.

I checked the ICJ's website. The ICJ is a bit different from other UN-related bodies. It doesn't have "member" countries. Instead it has sort of two main parts - one is a country's acceptance of the ICJ (e.g. both Thailand and Cambodia have done so); but the devil is in the detail of the second part - it's where individual countries above agree to the courts verdicts as 'mandatory' or mandated I guess. Cambodia has accepted that, Thailand has not. That first list also has many countries in it, including the US which has not accepted the second part - nor has Israel or others of that ilk - because they refuse to accept the ICJs court rulings that could indict its soldiers or others (e.g. Netanyahu has been indicted). In short, Thailand doesn't have to abide or pay attention to the Cambodia filing, or  the ICJ eventual decision. Bsically the ICJ has no teeth in many cases.

This nothing more than a diversionary tactic to steer the media away from something else the government doesn’t want them to find out about.

In an escalating border dispute with Cambodia, Thailand's military has declared readiness for a "high-level operation" to counter any breach of its sovereignty. This strong stance follows a deadly confrontation last week and highlights growing tensions between the neighbouring countries.

On Thursday, the Thai military issued a statement expressing concerns over Cambodia's increased military preparedness at the border, despite ongoing diplomatic dialogues. This assertion contrasts sharply with an earlier government statement calling for peaceful engagement through existing diplomatic channels.

"The army is prepared for a high-level military operation if necessary to respond to any sovereignty violations," the statement ahead of a high-command meeting on Friday reads. The Thai military emphasised that its border operations have been conducted with care and deliberation to prevent casualties while ensuring readiness to protect national sovereignty.

Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra corroborated the military's readiness to defend the country, following a National Security Council meeting on the issue. The armed forces chief voiced support for the government's peaceful resolution efforts, highlighting a delicate balance between military readiness and diplomatic dialogue.

The border dispute has historical roots and is further complicated by overlapping territorial claims. Last week's skirmish in an undemarcated area left a Cambodian soldier dead, intensifying nationalist sentiments. Despite this, Thailand and Cambodia maintain historically friendly ties, attributed to the relationship between their influential former leaders, Thaksin Shinawatra and Hun Sen.

The issue surfaces at a challenging time for Thailand's Pheu Thai Party-led government, which grapples with economic woes and political pressures. The Shinawatra family's history with the Thai military remains contentious, given the military's past coups against their governmental leadership.

The conflict draws parallels to past clashes, notably in 2011 over the Preah Vihear temple, a site of longstanding territorial dispute. The International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruled in favour of Cambodia in 2013, mandating that Thailand withdraw troops from disputed areas, a decision Thailand did not recognise concerning the court's jurisdiction.

Cambodia remains committed to peace, proposing to resolve disputes through the ICJ, urging Thai cooperation. As tensions simmer, the world watches closely, hoping for a resolution that maintains regional stability.

China's record at fighting in this part of the world is nothing to worry about.  If you said the Vietnamese were training the Cambodians, I would worry.

No, the Americans will be here when Taiwan gets into trouble with China.  For now, Trump does not give a rat's ass about Phuket, Pattaya or BKK.

The Thai side shut the border (main crosding, Aranyaprathet) at 3:30 today without any advance notice. Many people stranded there unable to cross.

Does "readiness for a "high-level operation"" mean in military speak "hurry up and wait". Wake me up when this life and death situation is over.

Surely a ruling was clearly made by the international court in the Netherlands and Thailand accepted it at the time.
Now Thailand is starting to be difficult again, trying to escalate the situation, in my opinion they are the war hitters and not Cambodia.

My understanding is that Thailand has never, ever accepted any ICJ rulings either onshore or offshore. It just stops their farting in church for a wee bit.

Thailand is certainly ready!

They've got an aircraft carrier with no aircraft, subs with no engines, blimps with no helium, and bomb detectors made of paper mache.

All they need now is a couple thousand more generals....

"...Thailand has a notoriously top-heavy military, with about 1,700 generals – or one general for every 212 soldiers...."

Again, I suggest you  have a closer look at what happened to India's military. Try this.

You are  letting your prejudice influence you. While the western world has been asleep at the wheel, cocky and arrogant, the Chinese have been working hard, studying and applying lessons learned over the years. The China of 2025 is not the China of 1975.

You can read it up in the Bible already

"Lord, forgive them for they don't know what they are doing"

The shot which killed the Cambodian soldier came from a Thai weapon. Question is, how this this (as well as most likely all other weapons) get fired in the first place. Somchai the soldier would not dare to do anything without explicit order from higher up at the border. That higher up gets the orders from bigger wig in the province's capital. Latter consults with the army headquarters. In short, shooting is instructed/ordered and you have to dig around there first.

For me this is a repetition of the smoke screen the government pulled up in 2008, slightly to the West in Khao Phra Viharn (Sisaket province) compared to this year's incident.

Just be careful, you're playing with fire. Diplomatically the ice is pretty thin as both countries have BIG faces to lose and you might stir the racist pot on both sides of the border which would be the perfect start of a war.

Just saying ........

In the modern world there is a cure for losing face,
