Got A Single-entry Non B. What Should I Do Next?

Featured Replies

I went to Penang 3 weeks ago to apply for a Non B visa.

Since I got a single-entry one, which will be expire in couple months.

I am so curious what I have to do next?

I wonder if I have to get out again or I can just extend at any immigration office in Thailand?

I am thinking about getting a work permit. Where can I do it?

Anyway, I am still curious what 'Work Permit' is for? :o

Where to get one?

Do I have to take care of my stuff every 3 months over and over after that?

Thank you very much for your help.

Talk to Sunbelt or Indo Siam ... links on the opening page of Thaivisa. I confess to being surprised that you got a B visa when you don't know what you want to do. They can point you in the right direction, and handle any applications for you. It is too complex to try to do it alone.

A work permit is a permit to work in Thailand if you wish to do that. You will need to find an employer first, normally the employer will arrange with your work permit. How long you can stay will depend on salary, paid tax, company stucture etc.etc.

I aggree with Dr.PP, very strange to get a B visa without eve knowing what it is for.

regards,

I'm so new. I don't know anything.

I don't know who to ask because all foreigner teachers at my school are old and have different kind of visa.

My school doesn't know anything about it.

I am just curious why they gave me a 1 year visa but expire in 90 days.

It should be something like a 90-days visa with 90 days stamp or oneyear visa with one year stay, you know what I mean.

Thank you, anyway.

Have I got answers yet? :o

I think I know what my non B for but you didn't read it completely.

how much did u pay for you NoN B visa?500 RM or 200RM?If your visa is given validity for 1 year, then you better check in your passport on the VISA STICKER at the NO.OF ENTRIES,there must be an S or an M.You better check these 2 things and let us know the fees of visa, and we will try to help u more.

Yeah,IC.it's a single entry visa.and about it's 1 year validity,it's the validity within the visa to be utilised. This means after getting your NON B visa at the relevant embassy, you HAVE TO ENTER THAILAND WITHIN THE VALIDITY DATE GIVE TO UTILISE THE VISA.A Non B visa gives u 90 days of stay in Thailand.

About workpermit, according to the law of thailand, all foreigners wanting to work here have to get approval from the labour department prior to involve in any kind of work.YOU CAN WORK ONLY AFTER THE LABOUR DEPARTMENT APPROVES U TO DO SO BY ISSUING A BLUE APPROVAL BOOK WHICH IS CALLED WORKPERMIT.IF THEY DON'T APPROVE,YOU CAN'T INVOLVE IN ANY KIND OF WORK HERE.

your school? are you a teacher or a student?

the old teachers you are referring to most likely have one year extensions of stay from thai immigration here in thailand and hopefully work permits.

My school doesn't know anything about it.

You should be talking to the Principal of your school.

He/She should be handling the application for your work permit,

and the extension of you visa that will go with it.

Without the Work Permit you are working illegally and risk arrest, imprisonment in the Immigration Detention Centre (awful place) and deportation.

Get your status sorted out as soon as possible!! :o

Thank you for some help.

I've taught here for a semester before getting a NON B.

This is country side.

The school doesn't care about me having a visa for working or not.

They just hire somebody to teach the kids. I mean whoever can teach.

They had hired some old white guys in this area to teach and never offer any help for a visa for anybody.

I asked everybody, includes the principa. Nobody knows anything.

I know it wasn't right that's why I'm trying to make it right.

And now I just need some help.

Thank you again for helping.

I like this board. It helps me a lot. I just don't like sarcasm around.
