If it hasn't already been mentioned, if you are aged over 70 years, you will not be able to register for the Krungsri app and will therefore have to use the ATM for all of your transactions.

I find no mention of that in their T&C.  Perhaps you would like to share your reference for that?  I am over age 70, I have multiple Krungsri accounts ( different types) and I have encountered no such limitation.  Again, please share your reference for that assertion.

i went into Krungsri this morning and whilst there I asked about registering for the Krungsri app come October.

The lady informed me that as I was over 70 I could not apply for the app, 70 years being the maximum age.  Later I  Called the call center 1572 and got the same response.

Furthermore, I tried to register for the app but all I got was FAILED - Your date of birth is incorrect.

"The basic qualification of the User is to be of age 12 or over but not exceeding 70 years."

https://www.krungsri.com/en/personal/digital-banking/krungsri-app/faq

Scroll down to Terms & Conditions. The age limit is in section 1.2.

My bold:

1.2 The User can apply for Krungsri Online/krungsri application through the channels specified by the Bank, such as the Bank's website, Krungsri ATM, the Bank’s branches, or the Bank’s application installed on mobile phone or tablet that can be connected to the Bank's network. The User must fill out all required information completely and accurately. The basic qualification of the User is to be of age 12 or over but not exceeding 70 years. The registration will be valid when the User receives a confirmation message via E-mail or mobile phone number registered with the Bank.

Porthos and anchadian. Interesting.

Thanks for pointing that out for a more recent T&C, with "Effective date: February 17, 2025".

I note as you point out, in para-1.2 of this more recent T&C that it states "The basic qualification of the User is to be of age 12 or over but not exceeding 70 years. "

That suggests I no longer qualify for a Krungsri app if para 1.2 applies to the T&C for using the Krungsri Online application.

If it applies to only opening "applying" for the application then it suggests one who previously applied and obtained the app at age-70 or earlier may still be allowed to keep such.

I first installed the app at age-67 (?), and I am now age-71 and I regularly use my Krungsri Exclusive card, and regularly pay bills via both the PC-based-internet browser based Krungsri website (which is to close in October) and occasionally pay bills via an android Krungsri app on my smartphone (and do MANY "scan" money payments with the Krungsri app..

I wonder, given my accounts (including investments) with Krungsri is definitely very  'substantial' , if they will 'look the other way' for me using their Krungsri app, or despite my financial status (and given my age) require me to stop using the Krungrsi app?

Likely in the next year or two I will buy a new smartphone, and at that time I will then need to re-install the Krungsri app on that new smartphone device.  This makes me think I could have issues then with a new Krungsri app.

I do like to use my phone for payments via the Krungsri app, so this could lead me to close my Krungsri account and move my very large amount of investment away from Krungsri, unless they make an exception (not mentioned in their T&C, for large accounts (both cash and investment)).

These are interesting times as one encounters things as one grows older.

I have the Krungsri mobile app on my phone. Unused until now.

I thought I would take a look at it following the discontinuation message on their website.

Should be simple enough.

So first I would need to register.

Switch off wi-fi and use 5G

Before I can use 5G I need to register as a 5G user with my password.

Er.

I don't have one of those.

This is likely to take a little while.

Maybe I should just go to my local BAAC bank which is just down the road as opposed to Krungsri which is 19km away, and open a new account there.

Yes.

I found this out by finally getting just a bit of positive progress. I got my 5G password sorted  but still couldn't get recognised. However I was asked if I would like to have the app installed in my notepad. It was free so I thought great, I'll have some of that.

It is now in both mobile 'phone and notepad both of which ask me for passport and account numbers and rejected me. I think I will need to go to the Krungsri branch in Buriram and check they have my current passport number in their system.

In response to their notice that Online Banking will cease on 1 October 2025, I downloaded the app and because it informed me I had to go to any branch to register, did just that. Took passport and the clerk tried several times to register me, but Registration Failed on every occasion.

She asked whether I had more than 1 SIM, whether my account was registered using another SIM, another form of ID, to which the answer is "no". Very sorry. She also thought that if I had Online Banking, the app could not be registered, but I have no idea whether that line was based on anything.

So clearly there is something remiss with this registration malarkey.

Don't you just love the way Thais dot their i's and cross their t's. If this sort of thing was not so common you would be worried that their IT people were morons.

Did the clerk offer any route forward to resolve this problem?

I will be going to my Krungsri branch tomorrow to register.........

No she didn't, but I contacted my relationship manager and explained what had happened, and she advised me:

Since we will discontinued Krungsri Online on 1 Oct 25, we will have SMS/E-mail notification send to customer on what to do next step. There are various options for various groups.  Kindly wait our SMS/E-mail notification send out around 30 June 25.

So I will wait accordingly. I did point out that the message in red on the Krungsri Online Banking page was therefore inaccurate and they ought to perhaps change it, so that people like you and me don't have to waste our time trying to register now, which the notice infers,

Sounds good.

I went to my near'ish branch this morning and presented the problem to the assistant. She made a few phone calls and came back with "you need to cancel your Krungsri-on-Line first because you can't have your mobile app registered whilst still registered for online banking".

I would be loath to do that because there is still a risk of cancelling one thing and not being able to register for the other.

My wife suggested to wait 'til October 1st which is in line with your excellent information above.

So, like you, that's what I'm going to do.

That sounds like incorrect Thai logic, try a different person / branch

Yes, I had a similar response from the clerk, and my response to that was the same as yours. The clerk only suggested it as a reason, so the lack of anything definitive made me hesitate. It seems remarkable that they should be so uncoordinated about how to fulfill their notice. Well, maybe not that remarkable here. (I also cannot imagine why you can't have both online and an app, but I think they haven't thought this one through yet.)

Forgot to mention.

There was a flurry of activity when I asked if my passport number might be a problem.

I had a new passport just over a year ago and made sure my bank was aware of this when I did my extension. They even photocopied the new passport.

Today the counter staff did a few things on the computer and, after a bit of double checking, had me sign a document to say I agreed that this was my current passport number.

No wonder there was a security problem when I first tried to register for the app.

I had the correct passport (also newish), which was registered at the bank when I got it, so that wasn't a issue.
